Online Science Courses

Hi all,

I thought that maybe it would be good to have a sticky for online science courses.

I am currently looking for an online/distance learning-- 4-- credit microbiology course. Of course it has to have a lab.

I know that both ccconline and Rio Salado offer these courses. Anyone have experience with either one of these in regards to microbiology, i.e. testing, level of difficulty, user friendly technology. I know from experience with Rio that the exams are proctored but how does ccconline deliver their exams?

Chem and Micro you probably will not find online. They are courses that you really should go to on site. Nutriton is not hard to find, maybe even Excelsior College.

Brigham young university in utah has micro online. they have other sciences online with the labs. i'm getting ready to take micro right now.

Hey there!

Just wanted to let you know that St Petersburg College (in Florida), which is a university that offers both associate and bachelor's degrees, offers both A&Ps and micro online (with all labs); they also have chemistry online if you need it; I am not sure about nutrition, but it's likely that they do.

SPC is a phenomenal school and would recommend any of their distance learning courses to anybody. Contact me directly if you have any additional ???'s.

How does Rio Salado offer the Micro lab online? Do they require the purchase of a lab kit also? tia

The online Microbiology course from Rio does not require an inperson lab. They have online photos at different magnifications that pretty much emulate what you would see with a microscope.

Hi - thanks for this thread. I am looking into A&P I online because the only section available here is at an inconvienent time. However the online courses I have found are only 3 credits, and I need 4. Does anyone know of a 4 credit online A&P I course? Thanks!

You could try Rio Salado. I their A&P classes and felt it was very poorly put together though. The instructors really were nothing more than exam correctors who seemed too busy to answer even basic emails.

I have taken other courses at Rio that were excellent and provided a positive learning experience. I just would not do A&P with them had I known then what I know now. Still, if you are in a pinch... you do what you have to do.

I am debating to attend edukan or rio salado for A & P II. Was wondering which teacher in either college I should choose. I want a teacher that doesn't just pass anyone or that is never there to respond too. This is for the upcoming Spring semester.

Anyone taking AP II online for spring? Which school did you decide on? Thinking about Iowa Consortium, rio salodo or edukan (I think they may be full cause its no longer offering it).
