what is your state? i have not done excelsior yet hopefully in a couple of months after i take my nclex-pn. you should visit the distance learning forum to learn more information about excelsior. from what i know, only california and maryland will not let you practice in their states if you're an ec grad. in some states you have to jump some hoops but would let you practice in their states after you do what they require you to do.

Accreditation and approval are two separate issues.
A nursing program can be legitimately accredited without being approved by the state's board of nursing. This is the case of Excelsior. Excelsior is accredited by the NLN (National League for Nursing), but is not approved by some state boards of nursing.
As with any distance learning program, the school is as effective as you want it to be. You'll get out of it whatever you put into it. Many people have successfully completed Excelsior and earned their RN licensure.
