Online Psych NP program without experience?

Published

I want to go directly from my undergrad into my graduate school so I don't lose momentum. I know that I want to be a psychiatric NP and work as an RN while I'm in graduate school. The problem is that all of the schools that I've been finding require work experience. Are there any schools that offer an online Psychiatric NP program for RNs without work experience?

I'm just now beginning to prepare for a career in nursing so forgive my ignorance, but is a Psychiatric NP the same as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner? I'm assuming so.

Maybe one of these schools could work?

I am currently in NP school for PHMNP and have no plans to ever work as a RN. Not that I feel above it etc, thats just the way my life worked out.

These are some great articles to read, related to being a NP with little to no RN experence

Good luck to you.

NurseShawn,

An RN licensure simply gives you permission to enter a hospital and spend a year LEARNING how to actually be a RN. If you don't understand that you will have a difficult career ahead of your.

Good luck.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

And now for the reality portion of the show!!!!!

If anyone went straight to psych NP grad school right after getting RN license without any work experience. Can you please share what grad school you attended
