Hello AllNurses,
I'm looking to change careers, Iam 36 yrs old, mother of 3, wife and full-time employee. I literally do not have the time to attend a brick and mortar school.. Does anyone know of a Online Prelicensure ADN or BSN program for NJ residents? I tried WGU which would've been great, but the program only offered to a few states and NJ DID NOT MAKE THE CUT.
Although I'm looking to change careers, I do not have any medical/nursing background. I come from a business world of Regulatory Compliance/Quality Assurance (Food & Beverage industry)
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you all in advance!

There are no online pre-licensure programs. Even WGU, as you discovered, requires a clinical component. I was an instructor in the WGU pre-licensure program in Indiana, and had many students from others states enrolled. Every three months, they traveled to Indianapolis for their two week Clinical Intensive.
It sounds like you would be starting from scratch. You will not be able to keep your current employment and attend school full time. Something's gotta give. Only you can decide what that is. Could you drastically cut back lifestyle, allowing you to work part-time?

There are exactly zero online only entry to practice nursing programs in the US never mind available to NJ residents. All programs require an in person clinical experience.

if you literally do not have the time to attend a nursing school program then you need to make the time if you want to become a nurse, it's just that simple honestly. There are part-time and evening and weekend options for the courses you'd need to take to get into a nursing program in the first place, maybe start with that, those courses take a year or so to do, so you have time to do the more flexible scheduling pre-requisites before having to decide to cut back on work hours for the nursing program itself.

I would also suggest that you spend a full 12 hour shift shadowing an RN. If they don't sit/eat/pee (and it's highly likely they won't) then neither do you. Most career changers have no CLUE what nursing is like. They only know what they see on TV- a highly skewed view of the REAL work we do.

As the previous posters noted, no prelicensure online nursing programs exist.
The only online nursing programs in existence are designed for those who are already licensed nurses (e.g. LPNs and RNs who wish to earn higher credentials).
