UNLV SON FALL 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! :)

Since the Summer 2018 cohort is about to be announced, I thought I would start the forum for Fall 2018. Who else is applying? I hope the cut off score isn't as high as it was last fall!

Hey! Yeah I'm going to be out of the country just for those days. But I emailed the advisor that came and she just said to call SON's main office to tell them my situation. And I just saw the email that they sent about the contract signing date so thats a relief!

Wait, the SON sent an email?? I haven't gotten anything.... :(

I think the email was sent only to the 06-08 applicants.

This is gonna sound super dumb, but 06-08 applicants?

Lol. Sorry...June 8th applicants. I'm one of them and the greeting is specifically addressing "last Friday"

Also, from the email, the below note was included:

Please refrain from contacting the Health Sciences Advising Center or School of Nursing with questions on whether you have been admitted or not, unless you have not heard by July 15th.

I think calls will be made July 15th

Maybe the email was only sent to the students on those dates that didn't pick a contract signing session date.

I think calls will be made July 15th

That seems pretty late! I️ think they are just referring to July 15th as the latest date. But in the past, they have always started calling the first two weeks of July

I think calls will be made July 15th

The calls are done the first week of July. They state to not call them until the 15th, that way the SON has enough time to address any questions/issues from those students who do get accepted before "dealing" with anyone else (ie: people who are just curious to know what the cut-off is/was, as well as giving the mail time to get to the applicants who unfortunately don't get in.)

Hi everyone!

I finally got all of my grades back and HESI score so I am officially applying with 96.6 points... I got all A's in my prereqs but only got a 91% on the HESI. I feel like the A&P was super random and not really what I studied. Any advice if I should retake my HESI exam? Everyone on here seems to be in good standing! I'm crossing my fingers for all of you!!!

That is a great score! I really wouldn't waste the time/money to retake your HESI. I'm pretty sure you will get accepted into the program, no problem. :) Congrats!

For the contract signing dates, my BSN signing was on June 1st and she actually made us pick a date! But i guess every advisor did their own thing so I have no idea what to say about that. Also, we were told that it takes them roughly two weeks to get all calls out, and if you read through past forums, you will sometimes see a random person getting a call a week or so after the others. They start calculating scores for all of the applicants on July 1st. So it all depends on how fast that goes. But normally they get the calls out in the first three days from what i have heard. Maybe they have the assigned two weeks for the calls in case someone decides not to accept their spot? Who knows...

Today's signing session had 12 people total! And yes, there will be 56 admits instead of 48 now :)

I was at the signing session for today and we had 5 people total. Everyone was very nice and we talked before and during the signing.
