GCC Glendale Community College winter/spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Good morning,

My name is Richard and I applied to GCC for the winter/spring 2018 semester and wanted to start and topic for everyone to discuss.

That's great!!!!!! I'm soo happy to hear that you are a step closer .... yeah I don't feel prepare to take it I rather wait and study and pass the exam, if not, I have to pass the it exam with 62 on every section is going to be harder.... what was your score if you don't mind asking?

Thanks! You can do it! There are a lot of helpful review guides on YouTube too.

And my overall score was an 84%. I did well on reading, math, and science- but english is the section that really pulled my average down. I spent most of my efforts focusing on reviewing science and math. English is usually my strongest subject so I didn't study for that section nearly as much as I should have.

My breakdown was reading (85.1%), math (90.6%), science (87.2%), english (67.7%).

Hi everyone! Just popped on and wanted to say hi! I'm currently a 1st semester student in the GCC Nursing program. It is such an amazing program with incredible instructors. I highly recommend the program and although it is INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT, I know I am getting the best education out there. I encourage you all to study hard for the TEAS and do not get discouraged if you do not get an acceptance letter right away. I was actually denied at first, then waitlisted a week later, then accepted a week after that. Stick with it, do well on the TEAS, and begin to mentally prepare yourself for a stressful couple of years! Let me know if you have any questions!

It's so good to hear someone who got in! I'm pretty nervous about the whole lottery system. I'm officially in the pool, they said we should hear back mid-Nov.

Are you planning on going the RN-BSN route after the program? :)

Thank you for the update, I had a question what does your schedule look like.

Thanks for the update. The lottery is nerve racking hope we hear soon. I'm a little more nervous because I am a LVN going to the RN path and I know they're only a few spots.

I can't wait now I really want to get in a nursing program thats what matters now

It's ok to be nervous! Nerves are good... shows that you really want it! I am actually going to be applynto the bridge program that is offered to GCC Nursing students. So that means I will be attendeding either CSULA or APU over the summers while I'm at GCC and only have a year to get my BSN once I finish at GCC. A little confusing, so let me know if you have questions about it.

I am in the standard program which means I have class Monday from 9:40-12:20, Tuesday and Wednesday I am in the hospital from 6am-12pm, and Thursday we have class/seminar from 9-4:50pm.

I was interested in doing the bridge program too! But definitely confused, I would love to talk to you about it and get more information on how the application process and all that works. :) Thank you for all the help and advice!!

Hi Richard! I have also applied for the LVN to RN bridge program. I took TEAS today and made the cut! It was absolutely nerve wrecking. Now I am anxiously waiting for the lottery selection. I pray we all get accepted! Keep me posted!
