Trying to get all my prerequisite done and of course the bio and chem Classes were filled up in priority registration. Plus being out of school for more than five years I don't meet the prerequisites (I.E. high school chemistry within the last five years) so I may need to take the remedial classes first, such as bio99 chem 99. Does anyone know any online offering of these classes? Not sure how lab would work in these cases either.

I don't know about any online versions of these classes, but you can test out of it at our local community college. Would that be an option?
I am 42 I took both bio and chem In high school, but it has been so many years I doubt I could remember enough to test out.
There are study guides that you could study before taking the test. That would be similar to taking an online class. I took Chemistry in HS and as a freshmen in college, but that was way back on 1990 so I hope it counts.

I took bio 1010 hybrid fall quarter. Basically I did all the "work" at home and went in to lab 5 times over the course of the semester. It worked ok, the prof was a flake though so I signed up for chem 1010 in class rather than risk another prof who won't respond to email. That and I neeeeeeeed a good grade on the chem, and don't feel like I can risk it.

if you are not already in a program i would check on that. the local program by us requires them to have been taken with in the last five years. the english pre reqs have no expiration date.
i personally think our local community college goes too far on the pre reqs. they require bio 255,260 or bio 263 &264, eng 151,hce 110 hce11, hfe 250,phi 251,phy151,phy250 spe 151 boi 255,bio 263 bio 264 ,chm164, and mat 99. this is just to apply for the program which they accept about one in ten. so that means nine out of ten are taking about thirty four credits they may not even be able to use. oh and lets not forget you need to be a cna in good standings . they get away with it because they know it is so competitive to get in.
then they brag about how quick the program is. well yea it should be quick. you already have about 35 credits for pre reqs.
my rant over lol

on the testing out note, make sure that it will transfer in pass/fail not a grade. the cc program around here transfers clep and all test outs in as a c, virtually knocking you out of competition.

Hi,
What they do for online bio and chem classes is give you a take home lab but its more expensive for this class and more self comprehension..i would def. suggest taking an on campus for n e kind of science or bio with a lab...i took an online bio class and withdrew before i failed, then went to an on campus and got an A..just trust on this one..it helps you learn better too to do them on campus..and good luck!!
As luck would have it they just opened up another bio class on saturdas that fits my scedual J . If all goes well I should be able to apply in a year from march for the fall 2012 nursing program. It will require me finding a bio and chem. Class this summer, but with three somewhat local colleges I should be able to find one.
That is great news. Congrats!
