I am researching online courses for Micro and A&P I and II. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to look? I live in Germany so will not be able to attend any classes for labs, tests, etc. There is a posting here, but from a few years ago and I'm looking for updated information. Also, do you think online is the way to go for these classes or should I wait until I get Stateside to take them in person. Thanks!

I think you should take these classes in person....they are not easy and u really do need the labs or else some programs don't accept them.

I took A&P I and II with Edukan (http://www.edukan.org) All tests and labs were done online. I also had no trouble transfering my courses to the local community college's nursing program.
Good luck,

Online labs=no smelly cadavers. :) We participated in an autopsy when I was in LPN school (not planned, we had a substitute one day who had a friend who was a pathologist so we had an impromptu field trip) so technically I had a lab then just not a formal one. Got to see the structures up close though.

I've been to two cadaver labs -- the community college where I did my paramedic actually has a cadaver lab, and also at an EMS symposium. Smelly but VERY interesting! :)

I've been reading about online chem, micro, and A&P that apparently include labs.
How do the labs work? Are they just computer simulations? We did use a simulator for some dry labs in physio but they were just to complement the real labs.
I'm a little skeptical about these. Are they universally accepted for prereqs? Are they as good, do you think?

I took my Anatomy & Physiology through mccvlc.org (michigan's online virtual learning center). The Anatomy portion required me to attend the colleges campus for 2 proctored lab exams. No cadavers though..just models. We studied the pictures in our book. We also had a CD that has a detailed dissection of a cadaver. The Physiology course had a CD rom that accompanied my book. We use the simulations on that.
My courses will transfer to almost every university as A/P 1 & 2. It was stressful and hard to stay motivated, but it's done. Actually, almost done. Physiology exam is in 2 weeks... eek!
Sorry, I know this probably isn't helpful to you since the Anatomy course requires an onsite visit. But the Physiology was set up very well. A lot of busy work, but a great way to earn a decent grade in the class. You do have to take two proctored exams.. at testing center/university of some sort.
