I read in another thread that a few people think it's a good idea to take the "easy" pre req's online. I am just curious to see what people say are the "easy" pre req's. I know to each their own and everyone is different just looking for opinions.
Thanks
One of the things I love about online courses is that you get to know your fellow students a lot better. People are far less shy online (especially when the prof. has a minimum posting requirement). In class, discussions can sometimes be dominated by a few people. But online, everyone can have his or her say. There are students I have never met in person but who I feel like I know very well, thanks to online work!
AtomicWoman, That is good to hear. I was afraid that I would have less connection with other students by not going to a classroom. I wonder if all professors have a posting requirement? My class doesn't start until 9/2. Sometimes I start to panic and I consider signing up for a regular class. However, I would never be home if I did that!

One thing I will say, and if you like to write you will know what I mean -- I work HARDER in the online class!! Because I am so verbal and love to write, I wind up doing way more work than I have to. LOL!
I have taken ALL my pre-reqs online (and 1 hybrid - Micro where I had to go to campus for the lab.) I love online classes! I have had great experiences and my story would be the same as the others here.
If you procrastinate, do NOT take online classes. If you are not self-motivated, do NOT take online classes.
Most of the teachers do not allow you to turn in work past midnight of a specific date....period. No leniency! My son had the exception. The discussions would be shut off, but not the quizzes or the tests. Two days ago was the last day of his biology class. He had only taken 4 of the 14 quizzes and none of the tests! His average when he sat down was 13%. He sat there from 3:30 PM to 11:58PM and can you believe he finished it ALL!!!!
(ya gotta love your kid!) Anyway, he completed the course with a 74.6%. Could you imagine what he could have gotten if he kept up with the work?!?! :typing Geez. Anyway, I told him that IMHO, he was not a good candidate for online classes and he lucked out with this one.
When it comes to science and math classes I try to take those in person. Math because it will be easier to understand (at least for me) to watch someone do it. Science because there tends to be a lot of vocabulary. I've taken a lot of online classes and I learned that they do not really teach the subject. They are more of a guide on how to learn the subject. Whereas in a class a teacher would go through the problems with you, an online class will tell you to read chapter 7 and do the test by friday. It gives you deadlines most of the time to learn it on your own. If you are very confident in learning by yourself then I would go for online classes since they give you greater freedom. But if you don't know if you could handle it I would go to classes. Although, a lot of colleges do not offer online classes for math and science anyway. Good luck!

I'm taking chem this semester on line. I've never done an online course before, so I'm not sure what to expect. I have to go to campus once a week for labs, and the school requires one on campus exam. I'm pretty excited!
