Hi there..
I am taking a few online :typing courses this summer (for the first time) and I was wondering how the testing goes. I mean it is open book, :uhoh21: so how are you graded ? Are the tests timed or something ? How do you guys prepare ? It seems like it would be easy to get a decent grade online, right ? :yeah:What is the catch ? Thanks loads !

i've taken a few online classes and all mine were timed. i studied like i normally would for any other test and just signed on and took it. if they are timed there really isn't time to use your book to look for answers. classes are different everywhere though, this is just what i have experienced.
good luck in your classes. as long as you are self motivated you'll do great!!
Thanks ! I am concerned with my medical terminology class. Do they tell you what you have to study beforehand ? I hope they give you enough time. PS I am a Phillies fan but a Red Sox fan when we hit Cape Cod for a week in the summer ! Thanks again for your reply ! Appreciate it very much !

Hi,
I'm taking 2 online classes and the tests are a little different. Medical Terminology quizzes are timed and open book, but the final is at the campus. A&P I the quizzes are not timed and open book, but there are proctored exams. Both classes have a schedule and syllabus telling you what to study.

I have taken 6 classes now online format. A few Algebra's and English, PSY and Biology and A&P1... so far they have alll been different except for the midterm and finals being proctored if you are far away or at the testing center if you are not. A&P have been timed quizzes for lab, open book for lecture. Biology was all open book until the midterm and final. Math is via a coursecompass website and you can take the tests three times to improve your grade. They are timed but you have well over an hour or two to take them. English and PSY were all just writing papers. So the moral of the story.. every class is different on how they test.

Hi. I took Pharmacology, Developmental Psychology and Pathophysiology online. Every course different; none easy. If I could give you any advice it would be to print and frequently refer to the online syllabus and/or course outline and instructions.
You are responsible for knowing how the course works; they just assume you understand. If you don't, ask another student or the instructor.
Recently a friend told me she wasn't paying enough attention to her online course deadlines (a test must be completed each Wednesday and each Saturday by midnight), so she lost all the points for one test!
If a test is open book, it's not necessarily easy. There are often many questions worded in such a way that it is difficult to find the correct answers in the proscribed time period.
That said, I love online classes. Good luck with yours!
