Online BLS

Published

I'm looking at doing AHA's online Part 1 for BLS to renew my cert and I can't figure out how to get info on the Part 2 in person skills testing I'll have to do. Specifically I'm interested in how much it costs (I assume it's not included in the low Part 1 fee), where I go to do it and when it's offered.

I'm searching all over their website and it's like this info is top secret. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction?

If you go the the AHA website and in the top right hand corner click on "local branch", you can find contact info for your local office and they should be able to tell you where and when the second part of the class is offered. Also, many community colleges have it available and check with your local fire dept, because often the firefighters are trained to teach it and could possibly help you out. Hope this helps!!

If you complete the first part online, print and save the certificate at the end verifying your complettion. you will also need a copy of the certificate to turn into the instructor at the skills checkoff portion. Any BLS instructor can complete the skills checkoff. The fees are different for each instructor. At the minimum the cost of the card will have to be covered. The training center I use charges $4 for the card. Use of equipment etc may also be included in the fees if the instructor does not have access to equipment free of charge. I hope this helps. The AHA changed a few administrative things along with the new rollout for 2010. If you have any other questions feel free to ask... I'll do my best or get the new info from my course director...
