Has anyone ever took an online Anatomy & Physiology class? It is lecture and lab so I'm not sure how the lab part of it would work? And if anyone has took an online a&p how hard is it compared to a class setting?
I'm enrolled in summer A&P now because I didn't want to add it to my fall nursing schedule (1st semester) but if I can take online in the fall and do it from home, I could have the summer off to spend time with my two little girls who will start school in August!
Thanks in advance ladies!!!

I have never taken an online science prerequisite for nursing. I looked into it, but all the nursing programs in my area do not accept online classes for our science courses.

I briefly looked into Anatomy and Physiology online, but realized it wasn't the best idea. A very few nursing programs I was thinking of applying to allowed it, but only if lab was in a classroom. And many programs would not allow it at all, and I wanted to be able to apply everywhere. Then I also realized if I ever wanted to go for my MSN, they would not accept the online science classes. So, thinking of what might happen in the future, rather than have to back track and end up retaking the classes in a classroom, I decided I'd rather not risk taking it online. Taking it online will reduce your options of schools significantly. Not to mention it does not provide a hands-on experience, such as working with cadavers.

Most programs require lab in person, so before taking the course I would speak to the nursing department.
I am going to talk to the nursing department tomorrow and see what they say. I have aleady been accepted into the rn program I just need to make sure it is still accepted by taking it online. Im just not sure if it would be better to have a summer break or better to just take it on Camus this summer and get it over with. I'm just not sure what to do

I took A&P 1 and 2 in class w/cadaver lab and got A's in both. I can't imagine learning all the material from home all by myself...It would have been a nightmare for me. There is SOOO much information and you can't just read the whole chapter (which many times is like 30 pages long...) and know everything in it. You focus on the things that the professor lectures on. Also, we formed study groups in my class and it made learning everything much easier. As for labs, you MUST have a lab component to your course in person. So not too sure how that would work. My advice to you is to find an A&P course at your local community college and take it there. You may regret the online class later on...You must be a VERY independent learner to succeed in a class like that.

A friend of mine had this happen to her, the achool she was going to offered A&P online- but turns out the school wasn't accredited by the state. More than likely youll need to do an actual lab. Don't just meet with you're school and talk to them check their accreditation and possibly even go to another school that you'll want to go to in the future to further your career and see if they let those credits transfer in:)

My school offers a hybrid class and lab that only meets in person once a month. Loved it. Because I was working. You had to be motivated to learn. Which I was. I did not have time to go to campus or to form study groups. But I did I have time during my lunch breaks and after work to sit down and really study. And learn. Loved it. I felt I learned the subject better when I had ownership rather than then lecturer babbling about muscles.
Online classes are great for non traditional students who are motivated to learn. Just check with your school.

Physiology might be okay online but I'd take Anatomy in person. It's really helpful to learn the bones, muscles and organs by studying the 3D models and doing dissection. The class covers so much material and meeting weekly helps you keep up. I also made great friends in my A&P classes... everyone there was a nursing, pre-med or dentistry major.

My personal opinion would be to take it in the fall, only because its hard enough in a 16 week course, so I couldn't imagine condensing it any more!
