Online A&P II and Microbiology???

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi, everyone! This is one of my first threads!

I was wondering if anyone has ever taken an online A&P or Microbiology course? I only need those 2 prerequisites and because my husband is in the military it is hard for me to take them in class right now. The school I'm thinking about taking them at is SAC regionally accredited so they should transfer, but I'm afraid that a science class and lab online will be too hard to manage since I really like to learn hands on and be able to ask lots of questions. However, given our current circumstances it would be the best option for me right now. I'm also afraid that the Direct Entry MSN program I am going to apply for will not like that I have taken those courses online as opposed to in class and it will effect their decision. Any input anyone has to offer would be very much appreciated!

Thanks!! :D

ask the school you want to to get into if it will accept those courses.

I took both of those courses online. I did miss not doing the hands on lab for A&P II but since it was way more physiology than anatomy I probably didn't miss that much. The micro I did was with Eastern Oregon Univ (survey of medical micro) and it did have hands on lab. You just order a kit and do it at home. Basically it was just cultures and you don't use a scope so I kinda missed that but it got the job done.

As for the rest, I'd just talk to someone with the program you're interested in. My school only cared that the micro had a lab (not that it was a distance lab).

I would recommend first checking with the school to see if they take the credits from an online course. The school I am attending accepted my online Microbiology class (in fact they told me that taking it online would be acceptable). The class I took was with the University of New England and it had a virtual lab.

I recommend NOT taking the on-line micro. They re-formated the test, so students can't make higher than a 'C' for their grade.
