On pins and needles!!

took nclex-RN 8/14, yes a Sat, but that was the first available date. I was planning on using pvt as soon as I got home but guess what? maintenance on the web site from 6pm ct til 6am Sun & my test was at 2pm. I figured if I got 75 questions I would be out in time to see if I passed. Well, I was hit with 265 questions so I was in for a long hall. I only rec'd 12 sata , 3 math, 8 meds I never heard of, & 80% priority, and completed it in 4.5 hrs. I kept a tally on my note board. I felt defeated when I finished & was completely drained. Got home and kept trying pearsonvue but their system was down before the maintenance and was down til 10pm 8/16. I got so desperate I called the NJ BON & was told that the site has been down for them as well. Finally at 10:15pm while running out the door to be at work at 11pm I tried again, IT WAS UP AND WORKING! got the good pop-up and did quick results. So now its time to change my name to slcRN, I'm sooo happy! Can you believe my luck!, so happy its over, and good luck to all those who don't get 75 questions you still may pass :D

wow congratulations! what kind of resources did you use? where you enrolled in the kaplan course? or did you just use saunders and the kaplan strategies book? what was your method?

i have so many questions because I'm taking my NCLEX pretty soon...

btw, how did you manage to stay in front of the computer for the whole 4.5 hours?

I didn't use too many study materials, I didn't want to get overwhelmed if you know what I mean. I used Lacharity's prioritization (A MUST), nclex rn alternate format questions, kaplan strategies 2010-2011, and exam cram (but used the cd only) to do questions, never opened the book. When I hit question #76 I knew I was going all the way, I just took my time, read questions several times because I tend to rush and miss things. I felt that it was easier than the nclex pn and was shocked when it kept going because I felt I knew alot of the answers. I checked what I could remember when I got home & got it right. A couple of exhibits in the alternate format were on my nclex as well. The time went by really fast, the tiredness didn't hit me til I was done. I memorized the infection control mneumonics, make sure you know what to wear ex gloves, gown not just what each condition falls under, and know your lab values. After I did the tutorial I dumped my brain especially my shortcut for ABG. I didn't purchase any online courses, no money! but if I had some I would have purchased ncsbn since I used them to study for the nclex pn and passed the first time in 85 questions its, a very thorough review. Any more questions don't hesitate!
