A friend of mine gave this to me, and I'm just sharing. I am seriously considering using this resource, because I usually cannot find renewal classes these days. Believe it or not, they are temporarily not giving it at my job because the certified CPR instructor resigned. I'll need mine by January, 09.

At my current hospital, this is what they do for everyone. Well, the actual AHA one. You take the test online, then go through a 15 min "prove you know where to do compressions" check-off with certified staff. Cut down a lot on the hours-long class that was required of everyone. They just emailed us our code to get online, then we scheduled our quickie checkoff when we wanted. I thought is was a decent review.

We just had an instructor meeting at our facility and I think we are going to move toward this model. Our expectation will be that anyone coming for the skills portion without attending the two hour class will have to be able to do the skills with zero coaching. Any problems will result in a requirement to attend the regular renewal class for hands on learning.

I wouldn't personally accept any CPR cert that doesn't require a practical demonstration. It's just too important.
