On-line classes

Published

Hi everyone! Is anyone taking any of their pre-requisite classes online? If so, are they easier or harder? I prefer face to face classroom instruction but I'm just curious about online classes. Thanks for any input!! 😄

I can tell you from the perspective of someone who has never taken an online course before: it isn't too bad. I'm currently taking Life-Span Psychology online and Chemistry in person. Our grades are based exclusively on writing skills - so if you're not a strong or fairly quick writer, it could be a slog. In the future, I think I'll always try to determine what grading is based on to be certain that I know what I'm getting myself into.

I don't think I could take a math- or science-intensive course online. I need the interaction with a professor in those types of classes.

Good luck to you!

Well, I'm in my first semester of prereqs but I'm taking online Psych, Communications and Bio right now (lab on campus). It's not bad at all, you just have to be mindful of deadlines and such. Bio is killing me right now because it's an accelerated course, only 8 weeks. I'll never make that mistake again (at least not while taking other classes).

I did my first undergrad entirely online, and used it plus the A and P (also online) to get in to a degree holder program

I live only five minutes away from my campus. I actually prefer face to face classroom instruction but I was thinking about trying a few of the easier classes online.

Yes EricaD360 and OP,

Courses like sociology, psychology and most liberal arts stuff translate well online. I believe that stuff like math and statistics and sciences are better taken in the classroom where you have the give and take interaction with the instructor.

Either way always try to do this coursework as cheaply as possible because education costs to much money these days. Do this at a community college and have no regrets regarding the loan trap.

I agree education does cost a lot these days. I'm going to a community college.

I have taken every single class that doesn't require a lab online. So, a lot. I'm pretty organized and I stay on top of my work. Self paced learning is easier for me, but it's not for everyone. I'm taking Statistics, Speech and Nutrition online right now, as I take A&P I in person. It's going well so far.

Well, I just finished my first all online class - Developmental Life-Span Psych - got an A!! I'm a strong writer, which definitely made all the difference. Just started an accelerated Sociology 101 - whole semester in one month - so far, so good.

Hope you're all doing well!!
