Hi there!
Looking at making the move to endo, but was wondering about what to expect for the on call requirements? How soon are you expected to be there?
thanks!

Will be dependent on the facility's policy, and is definitely something you should ask at an interview. For my facility, call response time is 30 minutes from time of call to in OR/procedural room.
Good to know. I didn’t realize when I applied that they had on call, which I don’t mind taking, but I live in a big city with bad traffic so I worry about getting there in a certain amount of time.

Usually on call covers around six pm to six am Monday to Friday and 24/7 over the weekend. Hopefully the traffic will be a little lighter those hours.
I assume a big city hospital is used to on call staff being stuck in traffic and makes plans accordingly.
Ok Good to know. So typically for endo there’s a day and night shift weekend on call schedule? I know some other departments are for both shifts the whole weekend so I wasn’t sure if it would be the same or different.
In my facility, you're on call for the entire weekend. You really need to be asking these questions of the facility where you applied to get accurate information on how they work.
Got a second interview! Any good questions to ask during the interview at the end? Or what kind of questions to expect during the interview? Thanks!
Congratulations. I never can think of what questions to expect. I don't know if you should ask any specific questions about being on call or wait till you get the job?

Every place is different. Where I work we are asked to do a 6 hour call shift on Saturday’s or sundays about once every 10 weeks. I usually refuse and let other people pick up. We have plenty of part timers and I’m already there 5 days a week pulling ot. We only have lvns ok call on nights. I know our sister hospitals do 12 hour night call for the rns plus weekends but it’s all voluntary.
