McSteamy is telling the annoying interns about the Q2 repositioning of a pt with stage 3 decubs and they're complaining that by the time they're done they'll have to start all over again and "can't the nurses help?" To which McSteamy replies "They could... but I like nurses They're helpful and smart and already good at their jobs"
We've done a bit of bashing towards the horrible way the show paints our profession, but I couldn't believe they actually made a positive statement about us!!!

I saw that too!. Made me laugh! It was as if the residents suddenly realize, "What, THEY work? Maybe as much as us?!"
McSteamy got some bonus points from me at that exact moment. Likeability for that character is higher now.

I was surprised that they put that in the show. Maybe all the neg feedback is starting to sink in!
I love nothing more than when a dr respects nurses.

I laughed out loud when he was telling them about the turning, AS IF docs would be doing that Q2.

Lol, I saw that also and loved the look on thier faces! The expressions were priceless when they asked "Why cant the nurses help" or "about the time we get done we'll be starting all over again". DOH!! McDreamy's response was a real shocker and absolutely loved it. I rarely watch the show unless there is absolutely nothing else on so was happy to catch this one. Maybe I'll catch more episodes if they keep this attitude.

Since when do interns turn and reposition pts q2h? Another negative misconception put forth under the guise of a compliment.

I particularly enjoyed the privacy that they showed the patient while doing the dressing change with the door wide open

Every once in a while they do something like that that amuses me. I've been catching up on the old seasons thanks to Netflix and just watched an episode where Christina steals a patient she thinks should be surgical and sticks him in an empty room. The nurse walks in and asks why someone is in the room, and Christina mouths off and lets her know that if she needs a bedpan changed, she'll call the nurse.
Later in the episode Christina gets repeatedly paged to deal with enemas, dressing changes, projectile vomiting, diarrhea... all the dirty stuff, and misses every surgery. She figures her boss is behind all the pages and is punishing her, until the boss denies it and figures out it was the nurse who paged her. The boss tells her "Annoying the nurses is NOT very smart!"

Actually, knowing the history of nurses being upset with Grey's Anatomy and the letter writing campaign, my immediate reaction was one of distaste . . . . it seemed condescending to me . .like they were throwing a bone to the pi$$ed off nurses.
I've never been upset about the portrayal of interns, residents, and nurses in relation to real life. It is a tv show.
