Things are getting worst for NY nurses, since those two hospitals in Queens closed recently. Now Brookdale have laid nurses (and other workers) off, due to economic hardship, they've also instituted a hiring freeze (like other facilities). These employees had no warning. Its all over the news. Some staff were crying. So so sad. This is not looking good for nurses in NY right now. With hospitals closing, hiring freezes in effect at others, and the economy still on a downward trend, its going to be harder to get jobs as there is going to be a glut of nurses. Just like back in the early nineties. I feel really bad for the soon-to-be new grads.
Mabey someone know of some good news, to cheer things up? Or am I correct to be pessimistic about the employment situation in our profession?!

It will get better eventually, but when is the answer that few can answer. I feel for all those who are losing their jobs right now.

Two hospitals just closed recently; now, we have to hear this!
This is bad!
But the economy will improve; and, eventually, the hospitals will hire again when people have jobs and they have health insurances again.
..So be positive and stay tune!
