Oklahoma nursing job market on the news

Can anyone in Oklahoma confirm this video's claims? I know the video is a few months old now but at any point was this ever true? If it was and still is, thats great. If it wasn't true, perhaps someone needs to update the media. The reason I ask is I would totally consider moving to Oklahoma. I'll go wherever the jobs are.

Same propaganda all over the USA! The economy is hitting healthcare too. Now the school are cranking out twice as many students as needed. Jobs are hard to find no matter what field or education level you are. It is hit or miss witha lot of luck and who you know to get your foot in the door. OK is no different from anywhere else, its bad all over!

What hospital do you work at. From talking to recruiters sounds like none of the larger hospitals have a problem hiring new grads. (Baptist, Mercy, Saints, O.U., Deaconess).

Just remember there are a LOT of new grads, but not a lot of new grad positions....there is a lot of competition right now.

I spoke with a friend of mine who is a director over a unit at Childrens and she said that there were a lot of grads from Dec who are still unemployeed (this was in August), and a lot of the new grad programs had waiting lists. A lot of new grads are having to leave the state trying to find jobs.

I work at one of those hospitals you listed and I'm in Human Resources. The Recruiters would LOVE to hire new grads...don't get me wrong. But this is a decision from higher up. We're getting experienced RNs from all over the country applying right now. It's basically cherry-picking and that is why it is better for the hospital to hire them instead of new grads. I hate that but it's the economy we're in. I think it will change soon...but I don't know when.

While it is possible to get a job in metropolitan area in Oklahoma I don't think it will fall into your lap. But it is definitely possible. Small towns in Oklahoma still really need nurses. This is from talking to people in Oklahoma. I don't work in the medical field, but I am going to.
