Oig exclusion list

Published

Hi! Has anyone been placed on the OIG exclusion list? If so, how long did it take for you to get reinstated. I am reinstated through the BON, but am awaiting the letter from the OIG.

Yes.  But when can you be reinstated through the board of nursing?

June of this year

That is odd for them to suspend for 5 years. Usually it is until you are reinstated? Or was for me. When you are reinstated, I would call them and see if you can get a shorter time.

I will definitely call. Thanks for the advice

How did the OIG treat you when you called them? I recently had my RN license reinstated after surrendering it due to substance abuse. I submitted my application for reinstatement to the OIG a few weeks ago. Now, though, I'm second-guessing how I answered one of their questions after reviewing my application again just now. I may be just overthinking it, but I want to be completely transparent with them. I'm willing to call them to discuss that particular question, but I'd like to know how they actually treat people. I'm probably just being paranoid, but it's been such a long road to get here, I don't want an inadvertent technicality to screw this up. Thank you!

They were actually very nice and never questioned anything I had put on the application.

Thanks for responding! I had listed the Status of my license as "Active" and then entered the date of my reinstatement, but I'm thinking I should have said "Probation" instead of "Active". Then, the next question asks if I'm under any sanctions by any licensing authority, to which I answered "No". My thinking was that a sanction is something taken away, whereas my license was given back to me. I had to include a copy of my new Agreed Order which lists the stipulations of my probation anyway, so they will see that in the Order. Do you think I'm just being paranoid? My exclusion was based on the  surrender of my license. Thank you!

I would think as long as they have the order, you should be fine. I would call just to be sure!

Okay, thank you! I'll call on Monday. Jeez...what an anxiety-laden journey this has been!

I completely understand! This is my 2nd round with the BON, very aware....hope you hear something soon!

Try not to worry! I was so so paranoid about the OIG. Once I submitted my application it was 3-4 weeks until I got off. I worked in customer service with a pharma company when my license was surrendered and I was so paranoid that I had somehow violated the law when I submitted my application. I was honest on my application and they didn't bat an eye at it. Hope this helps. Hang in there-we CAN recover

Thank you for responding. It took me 18 months just to get the RN back. So, I just keep thinking that God wouldn't have brought me this far for something silly to screw it all up!
