OHSU's Accelerated BSN program 2012

Published

Hi! I live in Portland, OR and want to apply for OHSU's accelerated bachelor's program for nursing, but there isn't a lot of information out there on it. I've browsed their website, but it doesn't answer all the questions I have. I would love to know exactly what they judge you on in order to get in. I know your GPA and essays are extremely important, but do they care if you have had work history, or your CNA license or not? I don't have any experience, but have a 4.0 so far in my pre-reqs, and a 3.6 in my previous bachelor's degree (in a social work field). Anyway, I want to apply for the program to enter it in the summer of 2012, so I can finish up my pre-req's and what not. I am just wondering what else I need to do, because I really want in. Also, how much does it cost, and being accelerated, is it 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, or what? I have two kids I'm going to need to find childcare for while I'm in school, so I just want to know what I'm in for. anyway, if you can help me answer any of these questions, I would so greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello tigerlogic,

Congrats!!!! I am quite intrigue and impressed by your posting remarks regarding the essay component. May I please ask if you would be willing to share a portion or all of your admissions essay? I too like many other's was placed on the waitlist despite 2 Bachelor's degrees and extensive 14 work history in the Healthcare field. Here is my contact email address: [email protected]. Thank you for your time, feedback and consideration. Have a wonderful day. Kindest regards

Anybody turning down Linfield absn admission? Just wondering :)

Hi,

I'm trying to decide whether to attend the accelerated program this summer. I'm planning a visit to OHSU on Monday but I was wondering if any current student would be willing to meet with me and talk a little bit about the program or if not in person by email?

Thanks!

I'm posting for sympathy!!!

I live in New Mexico and the OHSU letter still hasn't arrived. AAAHH! Are they saving money by using the Pony Express?!

I am sorry to hear of your frustration and disappointment! All letters from OHSU have already been delivered and acceptance deadline requests are due May 1st, 2012. Have you called OHSU?

Wanderlust2205, I would definetly give Ohsu a call. It's getting pretty late to not have received something. It can't hurt :-)

Hello,

Has anyone else been placed on the OHSU ABSN waitlist? I await with such anticipation to see how things play out with being an alternate. I am curious to now how many potential candidates where placed on the waitlist???

aprilshower.emma - it seems that about 9-10 people just in this forum are waitlisted... who knows how many in total. It would be great to know and yes, interesting to see how it plays out!

berkeleygirl - I loved JHU! They offer fantastic programs and seem very organized and supportive of the students... Baltimore is okay, but I think I'm going to go for it! Exciting :-)

embracechange- Thank you for your response. I to love John Hopkins University. Are you going to attend JHU for the ABSN program? I too am contemplating other schools like JHU and WS Nursing programs. Have a wonderful weekend

I encourage you to call the admissions office. I'm in the ASBN program graduating this year, and found out I was admitted when a person called me at work saying my admissions packet had been returned to sender.

Congrats pdxrose. After reading everyone's posts...It seems that everyone who wrote a descent essay and met GPA requirements were placed on OHSU Accelerated BSN waitlist. There seems to be a slim chance however, I will continue to be optomistic that all us alternates will get in!!!!
