Hi there everyone. I didn't see a thread started yet, so I thought I would start one.
I am applying for the 2015 Accelerated BSN cohort (Portland campus) and am very nervous about the whole process with Nursing CAS and having transcripts sent to them.
I am also curious if anyone out there has an idea of what they are looking for and who will get interviews? It makes me nervous that there is no essay, so I assume that interviews will be based on grades alone. I have an undergraduate degree in Art History with a 3.64 GPA and a prereq GPA of 3.76 from PCC. Does anyone know if I even stand a chance? I have taken all of the prerequisites except for Micro, which I plan on taking in the winter.
It sounds like the interviews and no essays is a new thing? Does anyone know? Here's to hoping I at least get an interview!
Yep! 450 applicants, 135 interviewees, and 62 spots for the summer and fall cohorts. I feel super blessed to have made the cut to be interviewed, and I hope that it continues and that I make it into the program too!
Crange369 - We cannot share specifics of the interview process, but I will tell you that it was way less painful than I expected! For the most part, the people there were warm, welcoming, and tried to make you feel comfortable. Be sure to know why you want to go to that specific school, what they stand for and why it's important to you also, and practice timed writing! There are several practice questions you can find on allnurses, google, and pinterest. I would suggest timing yourself with 2-3 essay questions so that you can prepare for how quickly that hour flies by. Good luck and stick with it!
Congrats to everyone who made it through their interviews! Now the waiting game begins! I was told the we would hear by April 1st, but another admissions rep told me that they should be starting to send out notifications "within a week or two" after the interviews. If anyone hears any news, be sure to keep us all in the loop! Good luck!
I have a question regarding how we will find out if we are accepted or not. Does anyone know for sure if we get an email first and then a letter in the mail stating if we are accepted or wait-listed or denied?
Also wondering how many groups they interviewed. I'm thinking 4 groups (of 15 each) on thursday and then 4 groups (of 15 each) on friday? For example: I was in group 2 and there was an A, B, and C group of 5 applicants in each. I know there was at least one group before us and one after us but not sure if there was 4 or even 5 groups per day.
@hwhit I was told that we will be getting emails. I imagine that after the email, they send more info in a packet (a formal acceptance, financial aid info, next steps). So keep an eye on your spam box and make sure to leave a comment here when you hear!!
I don't know how many groups they interviewed - but they interviewed a total of 135 applicants. It sounds like that's the number you were trying to get a :)
Has anyone else applied to both the AccBac and the traditional three-year program? I applied to both, got an interview for the Accelerated Program, and fully expected to pass through the first round of selection for the three-year program, which is traditionally less competitive, but didn't get notification. I was told that emails went out two days ago notifying the people who were selected for interviews. I know I wouldn't have to interview again, but shouldn't I receive a notification about this? Waiting to hear back from Admissions....

Hey Allomorphicform,
I applied to both in Portland and got an email 2 days ago saying that since I am being considered for the 3 year program as well and that since also interviewed for the AccBacc they will not re-interview me, they will just use my interview scores from the accbacc interview.
