Hey everyone!
I got accepted into both OHSU and WSU nursing programs and am trying to decide which to attend for this upcoming fall. I hear great things about both. I am a Washington State resident, so attending WSU (at least for the first year) would cost less. I also have scholarships, grants, etc., if I attend there. What I am trying to figure out is whether attending OHSU is worth the extra year in schooling and cost over WSU. The thing that really drew me to want to attend OHSU is how they seemed to be focused on community based solutions. Or at least that's what they were saying during the interview process. If any former or current could give me some advice/guidance it'd be appreciated!

Current OHSU nursing student.
You are correct in thinking that OHSU is very focused on community health. We spent a good portion of the first year discussing how to promote health within communities and have a specific class during second year which focuses on population health.
Aside from just learning about community health, we were given opportunities to help undeserved groups within out community access healthcare.
Thanks for the perspective. That's one of the main reason why I put OHSU over WSU because it sounded like you would get a more well rounded educational experience.
If you don't mind me asking, how do you like the experience at OHSU thus far (don't know if you graduated yet)? I've seen some reviews from students saying it was disorganized but other than that the reviews have been quite positive.
