OHSU Portland Undergrad Alternates/Waitlist 2018

Hello everyone. Since emails have gone out to respective admitted and alternate students at OHSU PDX for the fall 2018 cohort, I thought I would create a discussion for any admits and alternates/waitlistees to attempt to keep track of the students who go from alternate to accepted, people who plan to accept or decline their spot at OHSU, PCC or any other regional programs, etc. Feel free to post your alternate designation if you would like and any other schools you may be or are already accepted to as well. If you were fortunate enough to make it this far, be proud of your accomplishments, you are one in a million. Or maybe just one in 450, it is a matter of perspective :) . May good news reach you all in the coming weeks and months!

I was also chosen as alternate and hopeful as I was also wait-listed at OHSU and did not apply anywhere else...

Hey everyone! I was also put on the Alternate list at PCC. Does this mean everyone at the proctored essay was either Accepted or put on the Alternate list? Aka there was no one that was "rejected"? I wish there was more info as to where the alternates stand but it sounds like it's just a random pool?

Hey nursegal86, I do believe they decline some people so my guess would be a pool of 40-50, maybe 60 alternates? I'm not sure but I know they will be working through that list this year again and I have seen some alternates already withdraw that have accepted elsewhere so that list is already smaller! Congrats on the alternate designation!

Alternate! But I'm still going to orientation. Past years have made it all the way through the waitlist. I've still got my seat at CCC but I want to leave my options open! Congrats on getting in. I new you would! ������

That's good to know. Thank you. And congrats on your acceptance! That's awesome! I hope we get notified as soon as seats open up in the program. But from the sounds of it, it sounds like we won't get called until after the deadline of June 15. So much waiting! So much anxiety!

Thank you! Yeah, post June 15th would be my guess UNLESS people get their declines in early and there is a lot of them, then they may even start before. Keep your head up, you'll get in! Did you apply anywhere else?

I applied to CCC and OHSU. PCC is the only one that I got this far at. But I've applied to PCC 3 times. But this is the farthest ive made it. I wish there was a way to know where I am in the pool. Or is it random? Since it's a "pool"? Do you know if there's also a waitlist?

I honestly have no idea how their list works. My guess is they have people ranked by points but it is hard to tell. Do you mind sharing your credentials and your point total for PCC?

I'm pretty sure if I counted right, my points were 59 or 60....I have been a CCMA for 5 1/2 years and have an associates degree. What about you? I emailed to ask where on the alternate list I stand and they couldn't tell me. They also said they have until August 10 to call us about any opening spots. But that we can get called anytime from now until then...

Nice! Yeah usually by mid-August everything is mostly set. I believe I had either 60 or 61 points. No prior degree but I have around 150 term credits give or take, 4.0 science GPA and 3.9 overall cumulative GPA. I was a resident firefighter/EMT-B for almost 5 years so I played on my emergency medical background a lot. I am also a 32 year old male so I am sure that helped. I am sure they will start contacting people from the alternate list pretty soon! Be on the lookout ;)

Hey everyone! I am on the alternate list at MHCC. I really want to know how many alternates they have gone through. Does anyone know? I was number 18 when they first sent out emails.

Hey there, you know I am not sure (I didn't apply there), but I have seen a few go from the top 5 in a few other threads.
