Anyone else applying for Fall 2015 BSN program at OHSU?
I am getting my application together now, but I wont be able to finalize or submit it until after December when fall term grades are posted. I am only applying to OHSU, specifically the Monmouth campus. I currently have a 3.93GPA and after Fall term I will have all but two prerequisites finished. The remaining two are Writing-122 and Nutrition.
I think I have a pretty competitive application but there is still a lot of doubt.
I have experience working in long term care and also as an EMT in an under served rural community. I know I will also get extra consideration for having already taken Microbiology.
I know we are still months away from interviews or acceptance letters but it would be nice to get the conversation started and get to know others who will be applying for 2015.
Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum. I applied last year to the Portland BSN Program and got accepted as an alternate, but didn't get in. This year I was offered an interview on April 10th. I really hope I get in! When did the mock interview take place? I wasn't even aware that it took place! What kinds of questions were asked at the mock interview? Thank you so much for all your input! :)))))
Hey Leteresa93! Congrats!!! That is very exciting!! I attended the mock interview. They asked questions like "Why do you want to be a nurse" "what qualities do you possess that will benefit the program" "How would you address conflict" things like that. Pretty generic. It's funny how difficult they were to answer though under pressure! lol. Keep us posted!! I hope you get into the program this year!
From what I understood, each campus comes up with their own questions. There were 5 questions that were asked in 5 seperate rooms (each room had only one member of the nursing school staff in it). Your answers are judged based on a pre-determined rubric. Example: Describe someone who you admire in a leadership role. How would you strive to emulate the attributes of this leader? What are some values you possess that will help you personally as a nurse? Choose five photographs (provided) and explain how they would represent you as a nurse. Explain any situations you have dealt with diversity....There really is no right or wrong answer to any of the questions. They are simply trying to get an idea of your communication skills and how you interact with people. Good luck!!!!
I did mine on Saturday. Longest 2 weeks of my life!!!
For sure!! Hopefully I'll see you in the fall. :) I am going to just tell myself I didn't get in so if I don't I wont be upset and if I do it'll be a surprise.
