OHSU BSN, Fall 2022

Hi everyone! I haven’t seen a thread on this years BSN program and wanted to connect with other applicants! I was waitlisted last year, and applied again to the Ashland campus. How’s everyone feeling about their application?

Do you mind me asking how many people were in the mock interview, or if they mentioned how many people were interviewing at that campus?

So at first I was nervous because in the zoom meeting there was over 50 people!! But over half of them were current nursing students in the program. And then they broke us up into groups and went over some questions and the current students helped us how to answer them! I am not sure why they invited applicants to a mock interview first before inviting people to interview but you’re right, they do everything quickly. So I think for the Monmouth campus she said maybe we’d hear back today but if not definitely on Monday or Tuesday and then if invited to interview, they’d take place on April 4th and 5th.

And they didn’t have that information for us yet. But she said they interview about 75 people and they have 32 seats. So about half get accepted. For the OHSU Monmouth campus. I’m sure each campus is different!

Good to know! I was waitlisted last year. It was about the same amount of interviewees that you’re going to have on the 4th and 5th. Due to the fact that Ashland and Monmouth have two dates for interviews and the rest only have one, I’m assuming were the biggest campuses with the most competition. Good luck to you!! Since I was waitlisted last year I have received my bachelors degree and CNA 2 with hospital experience, so I sure hope that helps!! Before I only had CNA 1 experience. ?????? for both of us!

Wow good for you!! Have you thought about doing an Accelerated BSN program? Since you have a bachelors degree! And I actually live in the Portland area so I thought they’d be the busiest campus that’s why I applied for a campus an hour away because I thought it would be less competitive. But maybe I’m wrong because you have a good point about there being two interview dates! All your experience with work and education sounds great!! I’d be shocked if you didn’t get in!! Thank you! I should have clarified, “besides” the Portland campus! ?Portland campus completes essays, I believe, instead of interviews. I have thought about applying to the Accelerated BSN and might next year (if I have too ?). I’m only 22 and graduated with my bachelors in three years. Honestly, had I educated myself better on the financial aid process after a degree, I may have chosen to lessen my load 3rd year. They’ll still use my parents income (even though I got married in February), and I don’t qualify for the loans I did before now that I have a degree. Kind of a catch 22, I guess. I wasn't given the option to receive essay prompts since I had submitted answers already for the accelerated program. They're using my previous responses. For the ABSN they sent prompts within 10 min of accepting the invitation. Maybe it's different for the BSN program?

Hitting refresh on my email inbox every five minutes! I also received an invite to a mock interview and was surprised because last year I did not receive this mock invite until after I received the real interview invite from OHSU. I would like to believe getting the invite for the mock is a sure sign I will get an invite to the interview! Does anybody else know if they mock interview their entire applicant pool or just the applicants who move on to the interview phase?

I am not sure which program you applied to but I know for Ashland, mock interview invites were sent to all applicants regardless of if they will get an interview or not.

How do you know that? Just curious. I’m in the same boat at Sara. Interview invite first and then mock interview invite last year when I was waitlisted.

I called and asked. You can also email to find out for your campus!
