OHSU BSN Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi! I recently applied to the 2018-2019 BSN program at OHSU, specifically the Monmouth campus. I keep looking to see if anyone has started a thread for this upcoming year and haven't found one. I'd love to connect with other applicants and keep each other updated on our processes.

Congratulations girls! The guy I talked to yesterday ended up calling me back and left a message saying that they would be trying to start sending them out this week as they were given the reviewed applications. I'm so happy for you girls! Best of luck in your interview!!

@amsugar is that for the Portland Campus?

I wonder how many have already gone out? í ½í¸¬

No Rosey, that was for the Monmouth campus. He made it sound like they'd send them out as they were decided rather than all at once because they were still working through them.

Not so great. Everything I'm seeing seems like 70-80 is considered a great score and we have to get an 89 on ours to get full points - that is so much pressure. I am a decent test taker but YIKES. How about you?

I got my interview email for OSHU Ashland this morning! So excited! So nervous! Anyone who has gone through the interview process before, any tips?

Same! There is so much pressure and everything is riding on this test! I don't want to freak myself out and hope I can just do well!! Let me know how you feel after. I changed my test day to April 6th.

just called OHSU.. interview notifications for the Portland campus are going out TODAY

@futurenurse347, CNA @amsugar I took the Kaplan test at Chemeketa last year and scored an 85% (46/50 on the application points). I was freaking out too, but you'll do fine! The prep book they recommend using makes it seem like it will be A LOT harder than it really is. Definitely study your physiology for the science section (I would recommend Khan Academy). On last year's exam, they had quite a few questions regarding respiration (CO2 and O2 transfer) and the pathway of blood flow through the heart. There was no chemistry or physics. The math section did have some easy dosage questions. As long as you are brushed up on your fractions, decimals and percentage calculations, you'll ace that section. I was most worried about the math section and it ended up being the section where I scored highest. The reading section was easy as well, just make sure you read each section carefully and read each answer to each question. The writing section was deceptively difficult (in my opinion). Writing has always been a very strong subject for me (I was a writing tutor at Chemeketa back in the day) and I scored lowest on that section. My only advice would be to read it carefully and take your time. Based on last year's admission and test scores of those admitted, I chose to not retake the Kaplan exam. I retook a couple of classes and have full points on grades so I think I have a good shot with my old Kaplan score. Good luck, I'm sure you'll both do great! Fingers crossed for all of us!!

Received email from OHSU Portland Campus this morning inviting me for an interview!

Thank you so much for all of this information! This makes me feel better. I figured that the book made it seem harder but I am glad you say the same! Good luck to you this year! :)
