OHSU ABSN June 2011 Start

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hello everyone,

I heard from current students that this is about the time last year that they got the PHONE CALL that they got into the OHSU ABSN program. I haven't heard anything yet. Has anyone else?

Cheers,

Lola

I'm new to this forum, but unexpectedly I got a call from OHSU ABSN today. I have yet to receive the packet though. I guess I only got the call because perhaps I'm applying from outside the US (Canada) and they just wanted to check if the mail went through.

Valarie, I know what you're going through!!! I got waitlisted at OHSU too. I am so stressed out. My other choice is University in Philly for an 11 mo. program. Still waitin on Linfield. I am going absolutely CRAZY!! Wish I had more info like what # I am on the waitlist, and how many got waitlisted!

To calculate an approximate cost our ABS program is simple. For Oregon residents, the Accelerated Bachelor's program is currently running at $418.00 per credit. This program is a total of 72 credits (see program of study on our website); therefore 72 * 407 = $29,304.00. Please note that there are student fees in addition to the per credit rate that are included every quarter; this program is over the course of 5 quarters. Currently these fees are roughly $1,762.92, making the approximate cost of the program for the 2010-2011 academic year $38,118.60.

To calculate the approximate cost for non-residents, simply multiple 72 credits by $547.00 and include the student fees cost. The approximate total of this portion of the program is $48,198.60.

Immunity tracking????

help!!!

Am I completely missing something...do the rest of you just have all of your immunization records on hand from your old schools, old docs etc or does everyone go get a blood draw and get that form filled out...I am so overwhelmed by all of the stuff we have to have done ....

any advice?

i'm going to get my prints at a police station, and notary at my bank and drug test at the location they gave me...but the immunization records are killing me...

sorry to sound like a spazz:confused:

Anybody have any idea how many they took from the ABSN waitlist last year? I too am an out-of-stater waiting. I do wish there was some way we could be informed of our ranking, or at least how many of us are on that list.

I agree, ShineBox. I am waitlisted too, and I am instate! I will be moving to Philadelphia in September if I do not get in off of the waitlist.

Lolac, you can get a blood titer done to prove immunity. I've lost all my immunization records and had to get one done last year to do volunteer work.

Call up OHSU Student Health Services with the immunization form in hand and explain that you are a new student. Someone there can talk you through the form and tell you how to estimate what dates you might have had some of those childhood immunizations. They can answer all your questions. I had many to be answered:)

Thank you so much for all of the advice!!!

Okay all of this immunization stuff for OHSu is officially too much! Am I missing something. The blood titer per disease is like $75....I am planning on just putting in dates for my immunizations, but my pediatrician does not have the best documentation of things so I won't be scanning much in for proof...what about everyone else? Am I the only on totally overwhelmed by the prospect of completing this form? I spoke with a nurse at student health services at OHSU and she could not lend much help...

So...am I missing something that should make this process easier or is it really just a huge pain?

Thanks and sorry for whining!

Maybe ask our program advisor? She's not a faculty, but an admin specialist, and has said her responsibility is to facilitate a lot of the logistical/administrative aspects of our journey. Plus she seems the kind of person who would try to find out things for you if she didn't know them herself.

Perhaps she can be helpful??

just wanted to let you all know that there's a facebook group out there called 'OHSU accbacc starting 2011'. congrats to everyone who will be attending and i look forward to meeting you all!
