Ohlone College FALL/Spring 2020/2021

Hi guys, I haven't seen anyone making a post for the 2020/2021 semester, so here it is!

Hi everyone,

Wondering if there are any updates? I emailed Carrie a week ago and unfortunately haven't heard back.  Just wanted to see where they are at in the process. The wait has been quite long. Any info is appreciated!

Hi guys, I was hesitant to make this comment because nothing is for sure yet, but I’ve felt in the dark for the past few months and I know I wish someone would’ve left this comment for me. I’m a Fall student at Ohlone and we still don’t have clinical placements. Carrie met with us last week to tell us it looks like we won’t be getting one in time to finish the semester, so we will probably be suspended in our current class until we get a clinical site. I would assume that if our class is not moving forward, it would be difficult or impossible to admit the Spring cohort. 
 

again, I’m not totally sure about what will happen so don’t be too discouraged, and I hope you all get some good news soon.

Sorry to hear about the delay in your semester! Thank you for the information. It makes sense now that they are probably running behind with fall cohort due to covid. Probably haven't even started on Spring. Hope they find a clinical placement for you all soon!

I'm mortified to hear that. This is very disturbing considering that us accepted in Spring is still waiting for details. Yikes

Hi Everyone,

I emailed Ohlone on Thursday and got a response yesterday and this is what she wrote to me: We are  not asking you to do anything at this time, because we don’t have any new information at this time because of COVID-19.  I don’t have a date for you at this time and neither does the program director, until she gives the go ahead on how we are moving forward.

 

Thank you @genesiee for your information. It is very similar to what Ohlone sent to me. We are just going to have to wait. Thank you again, and please let us know if anything changes.

Its frustrating too because their is a high demand for nurses especially to help with Covid. Slowing down or putting off of the programs is only making things more difficult to keep up with the demand.  I really hope they figure something out really soon!

I agree. I expect more from them since it's a JC. If they suspend the program, I could have applied in EVC. but I didn't ?

Being the person that I am I went down the Ohlone directory and called everyone listed in the Health Science department. I was able to speak to a nurse who works for the school. She let me know that the school is still figuring things out and if their Fall cohort can't be placed into clinical the school will have to forfeit the Spring term. She told me they most likely won't have news for us until December. It's very disheartening I wish the school would be transparent with us and at least give us an update. A short email of some sorts to let us know what is happening. I've left voicemails and send out emails without a response.

Thank you guys for sharing all the information you have. It is discouraging to know that there is a possibility of us not starting in Spring 2021.

Seriously! Thats what I'm thinking should happen. Just carry it over along with the students who are willing to wait it out.
