Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
Yeah…It's all about the amount of credits you have. I could have registered yesterday, "BUT" the only class I need (Nursing Excellence) was entered incorrectly, so now I have to wait until they correct the error. Unless it's Music/Stats, you should be fine with your registration.
Hey..So you know for a fact that 17900 is for the spring nursing excellence? Just called school and they stated that they didn't know the codes and I complained about the site to see classes was down….
If you click on the link above, it gives that as the early spring session. I just registered. It does not give any dates once you register. So, I will be watching it.
I called the school earlier today and got everything squared away so its all good.Im just glad that they are offering Health appraisal next Q.
I am a bit aprehensive about Statistics online. I was enrolled during Spring Q 2011 but I withdrew during the 3rd week. I had such a hard time with the bell curve stuff. Im wondering if I should just take it at a local university or retry it again through OU.Even with the sites that were listed to help with stats, I still felt pretty Stats stupid
I took stats at OU and thought it was hard as hell. But I think no matter where you take it, it will be confusing if you don't understand the concepts. I managed to pull a high B, but I seriously think my professor did a MAJOR curve on the exams. But if you took it for 3wks and withdrew, you pretty much know what to expect. I also joined every statistics forum known to man and bugged the heck out of my highly trained in math husband for homework help.

Another allnurses member is taking it online at Rio Salado. It's an 8 week course, better paced. I am definitely going to look into it for the end of the year.
Rio Salado is either 8 or 14 weeks - but GO at your own Pace -- that being said, I finished the 8 week choice in 5 weeks with an A :) I had never had any stats before and their book is very well- laid out for learning!! Just walk through the examples. I also have the book available if anyone signs up at Rio - PM me
