Ohio RN to BSN - Electives

Nursing Students Ohio University

Published

Hi all - thought it was time to start a new thread that dealt with electives. I'll start!! Business Comm - has anyone in Prof F's class gotten their book review completed? I am up to word 1150 or so ... and still have my evaluation and conclusion to add. Not sure what he is looking for - the last "book report/review" I did was 40 years ago! I don't think he minds .. verbose! I got an "excellent" on everything I have submitted so far that has gone over the required ...

:w00t: All 10 points baby!!! 100% on my Communications Final Report

Are we required to get a 80% in elective classes also?

I don't know about Chem and Micro though them, but I know the stats prereq is intermediate Algebra. Did you take Colege Algebra? If so you are fine for that. I haven't taken it, so I'm trying to figure out what I need to take, between OU and Rio.

If you look at the mini sylabus for the class it will tell you what the prereq is.

Look at edukan - which is the community college system in Kansas. All online, reasonable tuition. most stats classes require intermediate algebra as a pre-req

The thing that threw me off with them, is they follow the typical semester schedule. So the classes are the full 15 weeks.

thanks for the tips! I know the stats is an 8 week class too. Had it all planned out until the algebra thing......none in college.. Oh well, I just may end up taking it here.

You don't need the prereq if you take it from here? I was figuring I would do the intermediate Algebra or whatever it was, then take stats. Just do both through Rio Salado. But I also need Chemistry. I'm horrible at math, so as much as it would suck to take an extra class, I figured it would only help me with the 2 classes if I take the algebra. I'll just be happy if it's less than colege algebra, lol

Neither of my advisors said I needed algebra. If that is the case then I will be taking it at OU....against my will lol. I've gone over my DARS twice with them. I"m down to a total of 18 classes (hopefully)!!

woohoo! so you can take stats without pre-reqs? I wouldn't think you'd need algebra for a stats class...but take that class alone if you can. 18 classes will go faster than you think...esp. if you can double up on some.

Hmmm. I know when I did my Associates, I had to do 2 prep math classes to get to college level. So I wonder if I would not even need an extra math class to take stats then. I will have to check into it. Maybe I should just suck it up and do it through OU. Atleast then my financial aid will pay for it. If I have to do it through Rio Salado then I have to pay out of pocket.

I think stats is going to suck no matter what. I figure I'll end up paying for a tutor, lol

Thats great you are getting down there. Are you doubling up at all?
