Hospice Question

Does anyone have a clue about the LPN's scope of practice working in Hospice?

I have a hospice orginization about to start hiring LPN's, but they need to do all the research and call lawyers etc, ect. I'm tired of waiting and would like to know the answers myself.

Not sure...but if you do a quick search on the internet with LPN Hospice as the search keywords, it brings up some job postings. You might want to look at those & perhaps call the facilities & ask them. You also might want to post this question on the Hospice nursing thread on this website.

My hubby is the director of a hospice. They do not use LPNS. In researching the possible addition of this professional to his staff he was told by the board that an LPN cannot assess the client. They would need to call and have an RN go out to do an assessment. This from the board.

i wasn't too sure, and wasn't coming up with any answes, i had learned in school however that as an LPN, i could not do an initial assessment, or intakes etc. But anyways, thanks guys.

You can do treatments in home health ie/FSBS or dressing changes.
