Hey everybody! I need a little help, please!

I am starting LPN school at RETS in April. They are giving me 3 weeks from today to get all my "stuff" together. "Stuff" meaning background check, immunizations, and CPR training. Does anybody know where I can get the CPR training in the next 3 weeks?

Any help would be appreciated!!

I posted this in the Ohio forum but I know there are some Dayton LPNs that hang out here so I'm gonna give it a shot here, too.

Erica! I am scheduled to start RETS too on April 1st! Although I am not going now, I am going to go to KMC, since it only cost's $6,000 more to go there and get your ASN.

Call For your health in vandalia the number is (937) 898-7660. They are excellent and funny! They have classes 3 or 4 times a week so they are easy to get into!

Good luck!

Oh my gosh, that's awesome! I just had my financial aid meeting tonight (not pretty) but I have to get the background check and the immunizations and stuff in 3 weeks. I had never heard of that place. I really appreciate the help!

So are you going to RETS for the LPN and then on to KMC for the rest of the RN?

I am going straight to KMC. After dealing with rets and finding out the financial aid situation, for me it didn't make sense to go to rets. KMC is only 6 grand more and you up your pay by 5 to 6 dollars an hour, and cut out the middle man.

I just want to tell you though, before you rush any further, ask around I have heard some pretty bad things about rets from students/former students (I work at MVH). Also they had bad reports to the BBB.

Again, it's all in what you want to do!! Good luck!

I had heard a few good things, a few bad things about them. Kind of like any place, really. I worked at MRH for 5 years and spoke to many of the RETS students that came through doing clinicals and never really heard anything that would make me run the other direction. Most complaints I ever heard were from people that didn't like work hard. Like most places, it seems you get out of the experience what you put into it. I'm at a point in my life where I'm just so ready to do something, anything. RETS just seemed a little better choice to me than MVCTC or Brown Mackie. I had heard RETS had a bad review on BBB so I looked them up before my first appointment. They are accredited by the BBB and had 1 incident in the last 36 months that was resolved and closed. My husband and I have done a lot of thinking and praying about this and we're pretty sure this is the right decision for me and our family. Hopefully one day I won't come to you saying, "Hoping2bRN, WHY didn't I listen to you??" LOL

Erica,

Here's a list of places that offer Healthcare CPR in Dayton. This list is from the American Heart Association website.

Also, you can try hospitals (which is where I went) and the American Red Cross Chapter in your area. Your school probably said you need BLS for Healthcare providers. If so, make sure that is what you take. General CPR and Healthcare CPR is not the same thing.

Good luck! I'm sure you will do great in your program.

I doubt you will! I am sure if it feels right to you than it is right! I *personally* just got a bad feeling. Kind of mad I lost what $160? bucks, but ahhh it's ok.

I just hope that I don't get dismissed at Kettering and think "Why didn't I just go to RETS?" lol
