*Tri-C Fall 2010 *

U.S.A. Ohio

Just thought about starting this thread for students who will be starting clinicals in August. I am starting in the evening/weekend program. Hoping for weekend clinicals.

I just paid for the background check and will be doing the fingerprinting on Monday. I called the nursing department and the receptionist told me that the packets will be mailed out this week.

Looking forward to meeting others who will be starting this Fall :yeah:.

Congrats on actually starting. When you find out what the immunization requirements are please either post them here or PM me. I have an appointment with my physician in June, and I'd like to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.:)

Thanks. I will definitely let you know about the immunization requirements. When do you start the program?

Spring 2011.

I was curious to know if anyone starting at Tri-C in the Fall 2010 have received their packets of information?

The packets will be mailed tomorrow, 4/23/10.

Thanks, AssociateDegree.

Thanks for starting this thread.... I'm quite nervous as there are so many rumours flying.

I was supposed to start in Jan 2010 but life happened so I had to move the start date to Aug. Please note that this could have changed, but at least it gives you a starting point. The health reqs at that time were

* Physical exam

* Hep B or titer showing you have antibodies

* tetorifice

* proof of having received double Mantoux

* rubella vaccine

* rubeola vaccine

* or MMR vaccine covering both rubella and rubeola

* varicella documentation

You will also need:

*

* health insurance

* CPR cours

SA2009,

Thanks for posting the information. I guess I will be looking at places for the CPR course and also making an appointment with my doctor for the vaccines and the physical.

Are you starting in the day or evening/weekend program? What rumors have you heard? I too am nervous. I will be working full time while doing the nursing program and am nervous that I will have a hard time.

I'm in the accelerated program and I do work full-time as well. The rumors are mainly about how time consuming it is. Currently, I'm taking chemistry and there are a few RNs in my class. Most advise me to start with the NCLEX reviews on day 1, because the questions on the tests in nursing school are similar to the questions on the NCLEX. They are not really tricky, but they are differennt from what we are used to in that more than one answer appears to be correct, but one is more correct than the other. Also, we should take really good notes during class and don't miss anything. So, that's my next difficulty, because I'm unattached and I don't have family around here, so if I have car troubles in the morning, I need a backup plan. I went to the orientation for the Jan classes, and they were quite frank: Do not miss for anything... You are allowed to miss, if I remember correctly, 15 hours per semester and that includes everything, clinicals, lab preps, etc. Now, the good thing I've heard is that the instructors are overall very good and supportive, and I think that's really important.

Now, regarding the CPR, the one I took cost $45 because we did not have to buy the book, so it really depends on where you want to take it, just to make sure you are taking the class for health care providers.

Also, I have been told by a lady in the nursing program that orientation is on June 3, but I'm not sure if that is for accelerated only. I just called and asked about it because I wanted to be sure that I'm in town for orientation.

I would recommend for everyone, though, to do all the non-nursing classes before starting the nursing program, just to keep down on volume. Some students in my A&P class were already in the nursing program, and I think that is just too much, but hey, if one can handle it....

Hi NewStart and everyone else,

I have just checked my Tri-C email and realized that I've been added to the ADN group. From this group, you can get quite a lot of info, and you can buy books from other students. Yes, now we are getting somewhere after all the waiting and prereqs and fretting and.... :)

and I wanted to give out a Good Luck to everyone!!

Hello everyone. I am new to the site. I will be starting at Tri-C in the fall for the evening/weekend program. I am taking Microbiology now. I just got my orientation packet in the mail from Tri-C!!! Yay!
