*Tri-C Fall 2010 *

Published

Just thought about starting this thread for students who will be starting clinicals in August. I am starting in the evening/weekend program. Hoping for weekend clinicals.

I just paid for the background check and will be doing the fingerprinting on Monday. I called the nursing department and the receptionist told me that the packets will be mailed out this week.

Looking forward to meeting others who will be starting this Fall :yeah:.

My fingerprinting appointment took about 5-10 minutes.

The physical exam form included in your packets has a space for a dental exam. Please note that dental exams are not required and you do not need to send in any information about your latest dental exam.

Hello,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I will be starting the accelerated program this Fall. I'm so anxious to go to orientation and then start the program.

Time is really flying. Orientation is the week after next.

Hi future nurses!

Has anyone had any trouble getting past immunization records from a previous Dr's office (Kaiser)? I need to get current immnuizations but I think I will have to just get the shots all over again with how long they are taking to get my medical records.

Kaiser takes up to 15 business days. It helps if you call them a few times.

Thanks, I received them in the mail on Thursday night! I guess as long as I got my first round of shots by 6/4 I should be ok...

Question. The instructions for the needed immunizations says we need two doses of varicella vacine. Kaiser says adults only need one dose. Has anyone one encountered this? How many doses did you all get or are gonna get?

I've never encountered a request for a two-dose varicella. To my knowledge, at Good Sam we only need a one dose varicella, titer, or proof of immunization through medical records. I have encountered the requirement with the MMR though- various facilities are fine with either a one dose or titer, but some want two doses within 2 months of each other. I think it depends on the program itself.

The nurse called me later and said she found out two doses are needed. So I'll get another in thirty days.

Just want to introduce myself as well. I will be starting the Accelerated ADN in August at Tri-C. I am very excited for Orientation to get more information, specifically regarding the schedule. I am married and I have 3 children. I will not be working throughout the program. We reside in southwest Lakewood. I am more nervous just about balancing life than I am the actual courses. I am looking to make friends with others that are starting the program in August as well. I look forward to meeting you!
