October NCLEX takers: MOTIVATE

Published

If you are taking NCLEX in October as I am here is a place to get motivated. As of today you have approximately 4-8 weeks to prepare for this life changing test. That is more than enough time if you haven't started yet.

Now crack open whatever review book you have and hit it because now is the time to begin. Start typing :typing those review sheets, looking over rationales start with the stuff you know you need help with and feel like :banghead: because by the end of your study time you'll be up to the stuff you do know and you'll hopefully feel more comfortable at test time... or maybe you won't.

Anybody else motivating tips, or study tips for NCLEX

I have been studying everyday and do between 50-100 questions a day [which I have been doing almost 3 months with only 2-3 weeks with a break]. I am getting ready to do more questions. I am not too nervous, but I have been praying a lot for my nerves to settle. How are you?

gurl, u dont want to know, have been doing the same thing, did EC and getting close to excellent, vipramed, listening to feuer from the free download online which is great, i reaally want to pass this 2nd time, and move on 4real...am praying every minute from my heart that we pass...i need a good job and go back to school. planning to do kaplan qt1-7 next week before my exam....

I know that next week that I will start getting anxious. I am just scared that when I enter the testing center that my anxiety will go up because I do have testing anxiety. I plan on taking a break each hour because I am afraid that if I don't then I won't be as focused. Are you allowed to bring snacks and drinks? I have been using Exam Cram just in the past three weeks.

yea, u will also be given a locker where u can keep ur stuff. pls take ur time and do elimination method, 2 ans are definately wrong that u can eliminate easily....this time i will take breaks as much that i can, and am taking my bible with me, will read the lord is my sherpherd with each click and i mean this...

I am taking my Bible with me too. You can always count on God and I think that is such a great approach!

This is for all those people who are taking the NCLEX -Rn in the coming few weeks. I took mine 2 weeks ago and i passed with 75 questions. I have test anxiety and i tend to screw up sometimes just because of this problem. This is what i did, few days before and on the day of the test. The final week before the test i was really geared up, i would do 100-150 questions everyday and i had even started reviewing the whole book again. I did not review the complete course but focussed on areas that i was weak in. I wrote down lab values every single day in that last week, just to feel confident. For some reason the kind of test NCLEX is you never feel prepared. As the days were coming closer, i was very nervous. So i started doing prep talk by constantly reminding myself that "i am smart and i can do this and you are going to get through this". 2 days before the test i took a test of 265 questions. I took this test very seriously without not taking too many breaks. Then the day before the test i did not do anything. I just went through some lab values and some EKG strips. This took me about 15- 20minutes and thats all i did. My test was on a monday morning at 8 am, so i woke up at 5:30 am and after showering and getting ready i had a high protein breakfast of eggs, bread, coffee. When i started the test my palms were sweating and i was already getting the feeling that i am going to screw it up.When i sat down i put on the headphones(please please use them) and just sat calmly for a minute. Then i sat and down and wrote all the lab values and anything and everything i could remember on the whiteboard that they gave me. I even wrote peak vaules of insulin, strategies to answer questions, acronyms, cranial nerves etc...This took almost 10 minutes but it made me feel more comfortable. Also, for every question i read i said the question aloud and why each and every option was not the correct answer. It was loud enough for me to hear it back. This helped me a lot . In all i took 2.5 hours to complete that test. I did take the break that they gave us at 2 hours and i saw a lot of Nclex people leave since they had already finished their test. At that moment my heart crushed, but i told myself," as long as i am getting questions i am still in the GAME baby" and i kept going and then it stopped in another 30 minutes. It is such a relief and i could not imagine how much energy this test can suck. Goodluck to all and hope you pass and get your license soon. Hope this information helped!!!
