OCCC Traditional Fall 2022

Published

Haven't seen a post for this yet but since applications are open I figured I'd start one! Anyone else trying to get in for this fall? How many points are you applying with?

Can’t believe we have one more full month until applications are due!

I know! I’m taking the TEAS in three weeks and submitting my application after that. I’m already nervous! ?

The TEAS isn’t too bad! I only studied for literally three days and got an advanced score. Good luck on it! Have you taken the HESI? I’m looking into taking it for another program.

Awesome! That’s good to know! I took the HESI and scored really well, but I’m afraid the TEAS will be more difficult. The HESI I took just had A&P for the science section, and I know the TEAS has chem, bio, etc. sprinkled in there too. Just hoping to get above a 79!
Good luck on the HESI! I’m sure you will do really well considering your performance on the TEAS.

Do y’all know if when you apply matters? Like if you apply earlier does that effect your acceptance? I know some schools are first come first serve.

I don’t think it does since it’s based on a point system. They just take all the applications and accept the top 72(I think? I could be wrong on the number) applications point wise that meet the criteria.

I wouldn’t think that it matters either! According to the application, they rank applicants based on preference points. Applicants with the same amount of points are then ranked by GPA.

Hey there! I applied a few weeks ago, my nerves got the best of me and I couldn't wait any longer. I submitted mine with 17. I went down to the health building one day and saw some students getting out of class (they were the Spring 2022) and they said anything 17 and above is a shoe in. 16 and you'll be right at the fence.

Hello, I will be applying to OCCC nursing for the Fall cohort. I should be applying with a 16 (possible more depending on which science courses they accept). Im only getting 1 point for my GPA, thanks to those first college years when I didn't think withdrawing instead of just quitting school and not going was important ?. Going thru the past threads people with a 14 and up seem to have a pretty solid chance because of some not accepting... eek.

I can relate! Only one point for my GPA too thanks to my early college years! ? I think it’s more competitive points-wise now. Seems like 16 and up is the cutoff. Maybe 15.
Not sure how competitive it will be this application cycle though..

LOL there should be like a full delete option.. Having an AAS has helped me gain back an extra point though.. So fingers crossed. I will be taking the TEAS on the 21st.

I’m only getting a point as well for my GPA(2.909 like can we please just round it up?!). Also due to my early college years, while dealing with a significant family trauma. I got four points for the TEAS though(81.3%). I’m from Mississippi and never had to take an accuplacer test. So I’m taking reading and English next week (don’t have to take math due to my ACT scores). Are those test hard? I have zero idea what to expect. If I can get the two points from those tests I’ll have 16 points in total to apply with.
