OCCC Nursing Fall 2017

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

Hi everyone!

I know this is a bit far away, but I am going to be applying to OCCC's traditional nursing program next fall. My preference points look like they will be right on the line of getting in. I wouldn't mind applying for the spring, but I want to get in as soon as I can lol. I was thinking about taking a CNA course to get that extra preference point. Does anyone know where I could go to get that done, and how much it costs/time it takes?

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone heard anything yet?

No!! But the advisor I talked to said it would probably take a full 8 weeks. Ugh.

Thats what I just heard too! I hate the wait!

I was looking at the forum post for the Spring 2017 applications, and it took them one day shy of 8 weeks to hear back. :(

I saw that too :( Today it has been 6 weeks, so hopefully we only have 2 more weeks. The PT program took almost 10 weeks, when their applications said it would be 6 to 8.

I called admissions yesterday and they said it would be two more weeks :(

I work at the Records desk and went to talk to Admissions and they just told me, in person, not over the phone, that NO emails have been sent out and that we would all get them at the same time.

Hey sooo this seems sort of silly, but on the points you can earn for sciences, Physics qualifies right? For some reason I was thinking life science typed sciences courses, but it just hit me today that I would have an additional point if physics would count towards the science class points. I don't know why it wouldn't, it just didn't occur to me, ha!

My nursing advisor told me only the sciences that were prerequisites for nursing. I had physics and botany and neither counted toward points.

I was told that it didn't have to be just prereqs. But every one has a different answer when it comes to those stupid points. I will be glad when all this is over. Hopefully we just have 1 more week to wait.

So I called up there a little bit ago, and admissions transferred me to health professions. They said it'll be first or second week of June. When I said I thought it was 8 weeks, she said no, it changed to 10. What the?!

Ok I work in the Records dept and I can tell u now, health professions has ZERO to do with the process. I guarantee if we call up there tomorrow we get a completely different answer.
