OCCC BADNAP (SUMMER 2020)

Published

Wanted to start this thread for anyone applying to the summer 2020 BADNAP program?

Just need to take the TEAS!

I put my best foot forward. I got a good score on TEAS with only 4 days of studying. 4 of my 5 transcripts arrived. The one that didn't arrive was ONE class :'(. Application was due Friday. Transcript was entered in on Monday. #life guess I'll be applying for January.

Oh no! Sending virtual hugs, but I know exactly how you feel and that not much makes it better. I had a college not send my transcript in despite my request being filed like they had sent it off, it was for one class that wasn’t even relevant. At the time, I didn’t know how to check your application on NursingCAS and so I didn’t find out until decisions went out and I didn’t receive an email, so I called to ask what was up. I was gutted.

I hope we find out soon. I'm anxious. I'm still teaching in the mean time. I just finished microbiology online through Edukan with an A. They take 45 applicants into the program

What do you teach? Are you hoping to continue to work even once the program starts? I am thinking about these things in hopes of being prepared for good news, I have a friend in the January 2020 program & he says it’s hard to pull off both working and being a good student with this pace. Congrats on the MBio! That’s awesome! It’s good to know about the 45, I just wish we knew how big the applicant pool was.

I wish we knew too. The micro isnt showing on my nursing cas CAS transcript but is in my occc one they have. I teach 6th grade sped in Edmond currently and I'm burned out. Hopefully I can swing working part time. My Nutrition course shows no grade but I got an A in it over an intercession. I'm just anxious

Thanks for your kind words. I wanted to send my application without it, but they were adamant that it would be a waste of my money because they wouldn't review it. Stinks it happened to you, but I'm glad to know it is legitimate that they take 1 class that serious.

I'm a teacher too. I don't want to start and quit mid year so, I will just take a 6 month vacation from July to Jan and come back in Jan ready for the BADNAP or else I'll go strait to a bsn program.... Still deciding.

I'm trying to set myself up to not work during nursing school, but I may teach English online or something, just s few hours each week.

I may teach for vipkid or renew my Texas cna and then transfer it to Oklahoma and work a few days ago. I'm applying for the traditional program as well and probably osu okc too. I might try and teach for epic and do this and just be absolutely miserable until nursing school is over. Short term sacrifice for a long term successful career

I'm thinking of trying to teach online as well. My current background is in the mental health field, so I have considered trying to find a crisis center in the metro area where I could perhaps work for them on a part time/as needed basis, but I'm not sure. The hardest part from what I've heard is that the days you have off can vary from week to week, so I guess unless I wanted to work night shift it would be hard to find somewhere that would work with the ever changing schedule.

Is anyone going to have to relocate in order to take part in the program? That's going to be my next hurdle as I'm currently living and working in Western Oklahoma.

I live in Edmond so OCCC isnt too far from me. I might teach online such as epic for next year

Check your emails! I’ve been accepted!

I just was accepted too!

Was your application in verified status? Mine never made it that far.

So for those of you that have been accepted was your application in verified status? Mine is still in received status.
