Hi everyone! Okay, so this semester's grades are in and my gpa is : 3.8242
I PRAY that this is good enough to get me in for this year. I really don't know. Last year's was what, a 3.77 something? I don't know if this will be enough or not. I pray that it is, I DESPERATELY want to get in!!!!
Ahh. The waiting....I know i' supposed to be relaxed because exams are over but I can't help but worry because I don't think my gpa is good enough.
Ugh. It's so annoying. In most universes, a 3.8 gpa is enough to throw a party and dance around for awhile, and instead i'm sitting here sobbing because I don't think it will be enough.
Anyway, I guess there's nothing I can do at this point but pray....
Ugh. How is it going for you guys? Who is waiting with me????????
Thanks so much for the responses guys! To jaaaey77 and Anne36- good luck! You guys start nursing school soon :) Congrats!
To Anne- you were telling me that if I don't get into the RN program for 2011, I should consider not retaking classes and just going LPN. I guess my issue was, would my gpa be high enough for the LPN program (3.8)?
thanks SO much for all your help everyone. Like I said, I really hope it won't come down to this because I really, really, really want to get into the RN program but if it doesn't work out it's nice to know that there are options I guess.....
Im sure you would be fine with that GPA, LOL. A friend and I were laughing at ourselves at orientation. We were always so freaked out in pre-req's thinking we had to get an A on every single thing to get into the LPN so we both ended up with 4.0 and the cutoff was a 3.6? this year for the LPN. I had the tough teachers for the science classes and literally worked those classes like full time jobs to get my A, if I had known I would not have put myself through so much stress.
Yes I am sure they will pull your app. off if you accept LPN.
My GPA for RN is just a little bit higher than yours. But I don't think I will take risk to refuse my LPN spot and wait another whole year for that. All doctors and nurses I know, they said it's a good start. They said you better start somewhere. At least you have some experiences before taking more responsible. Well, like I said, If I were you, I would take the first opportunity that is offered. Gain experience, making some $$$, and then continue your future education. I have too much education myself and I don't know whatever or not to change my mind later. I might not like to be a nurse and I might continue to finish the ph.d.
Will see what LPN has to offer and how I like my nursing career.
If there's any question, I'm happy to answer.
Anne: I met a guy who talked with us at the cafe last time we met. He got a grant from school. I don't know how but he said he didn't have to pay back. Well, I'll see you soon

I wouldnt even bother retaking classes for the RN program. You already have a very high GPA so If I was in that position I would just go for the LPN and then bridge.(if it comes down to that, but I bet you will get into the RN for 2011) The nice part about that is that you could work for the entire 2011 and save money incase you want to quit work for the program in 2012. I was pretty sure that if you apply to the LPN program and accept the spot in October, they pull your application to the RN program.
