She can take the test in whatever state she wants. She can take the test in NY. and apply for a Ga. license. NCLEX is a national exam. Whether she is applying for a license in NY or Ga., it is the same test and the same results. Nothing would be different for the NCLEX pass rate for the school. They may not like the fact that she is leaving the state for a job, but many new grads have to (including me. I am moving from Indiana to Ky.) to find a job.

Very good point - I just wasn't sure how things like pass rates get reported to a school if the students take the NCLEX outside that school's state.

Regardless, a school should NOT interfere with where a student is licensed. That is not their jurisdiction. Ozzy84, just obtain a sealed/official copy of your transcripts after graduation and send that with your application, and you should be fine.

I think the passing rates goes state of nursing board where your school is. when ever you take other state, it won't effect their passing rate at all. Because my initial application will be at other state than my school's stAte.

Their passing Rate Already 99% so I don't know why they worry about it. It seem to me all politic. They don't think people lives that I rent apt in Georgia and if i don't get license on time it will effect me badly.

Why a chair person would answer like "I have to think about it"! I paid my tuition and passed my exams. No one give me free degree. So it's my right to have my transcript on time. I hope she won't make delay for purposely. In order to registrar office processes my graduation, nursing dept need to approve my clinical hours etc.

Force of habit to assume you are female. Ironic coming from a male nurse :o

I called to GA BoN and someone answer me my call straightly. She said it takes about 25-30 day for new license but if my documents all complete w/o missing document, it's possible may even take 2 week .. I spoke w registrar office today and they told me that I can get my transcript mid January. My orientation start jan 26 but they will allow me some time till get my license w a lower salary :/
