This might be a morbid question, but one that interests me. If Laci Peterson was killed while she was in labor, labor would stop would'nt it? Or would she deliver the baby post mortem?
Or was she killed after she had her baby? Some of the articles call the child a baby and some say it was a fetus. Isnt a fetus an unborn child, could they be referring to the child as a fetus due to the fact that it was preterm? Or maybe because the umb
cord was still intact. I know the baby was viable at the time of birth.
And........can you tell Im not a OB nurse?
Or a forensics nurse?

This guy on the news said that it is probable that she was killed prior to delivery. The baby was still in her, and due to the decomposition process, the baby made its way out. That explains why the baby wasnt as decomposed as the mother. They say that the baby had only been out maybe 3 weeks.

The coroner here explained on the news that as the body decomposed the cervix would soften and open. Gradually with tissue decomposing the water in the bay water would have entered the uterus and as the tissue continued to decompose the fetus would have eventually been able to float free. So the baby had a post mortem delivery. This is a very sad situation and is constantly on the news here. I think we were told way too much; the mental pictures were vivid and awful.

Where is Gil Grissom when we need him?
This case is similar to the Charles Stuart case in Boston a few years ago. He had a girlfriend and killed his pregnant wife after attending childbirth ed class with her. Shot her and himself too. Then killed himself before the police closed in, but not before reaking havoc by blaming a black man for her death--so doubly heinous.
What is with these guys? The masseuse Scott Peterson was having an affair with will be hounded by the media now.

I'm trying to remember something I learned in nursing school... digging deep here..I'll try to get it right.. perhaps you can refresh my memory if I have it wrong.
I believe one way to tell if a baby was born alive or dead has to do with the lungs. I believe if it was dead before birth the newborn would float? I may have it backwards. One way it would float, the other way it woould sink.
I remember reading that this is one way courts use the autopsy expertise to determine if a babe was killed immediately agter birth or if it was stillborn.
Horrible, horrible situation there! I simply cannot begin to imagine what her family is enduring with the "visuals" of what happened to their daughter and grandchild and the manner in which they were found. May God give them strength and peace.

I hope she is hounded by the media so bad that she feels as bad, or worse, as a pregnant wife does when she finds out her husband is having an affair. (Even if Laci did not know of this affair).
This woman deserves what she gets. Do something to someone else of that nature and it WILL come back on you ten fold.
If her husband did kill her I hope they fry him veeeeeeeeeery slowly.

I agree!
But, I am also comforted in knowing that even if he isn't found guilty by our judicial (sp?) system, he WILL be held accountable by a mightier judge than any who could preside over this case.
