this book was used by many I know who took and passed this exam:
Manual of Obstetrics (Spiral Manual Series) (Spiral-bound)
by Arthur T Evans, Kenneth R Niswander
Some where on the web I found a practice test for $75. It was helpful if only to know how they phrased the questions etc. I passed it the first time. Since then many RN's at my work have taken and passed. I think I studied far more than I needed to, it was a good refresher though. I borrowed a current Williams Obstetrics from our CNS and used that. Many others took a review course. So far everyone has passed, we have a fairly high volumn and high risk population and we get lots of experience fast. It is actually supposed to be a test of your knowledge and not something that you study for, I did not feel comfortable without a brushup. The test I found was good in that it included the rationals for the answers and references.
helpful site.
The practice test is from CCPR (Centre for Certification Preparation and Review). I took maternal-newborn in 1994 and EFM in 2000. It was super for the M/N exam and I had a "practice book" from them for the EFM which was good, but not as good as the M/N practice test. Good luck! Here's the link:
