I've been lurking around here for awhile and I'm wondering if anyone else is starting the OCC nursing program in Sept. like me!
I already have my schedule and (most of) my books, but I'm wondering about what other supplies to get that may be useful. (Do you know when our "uniforms" and MedSurg book will be available?)
Also, is there any A&P, chem, or nutrition coursework I should study up on to help me out first semester?
Thanks!

did you pass and become a nurse? I started nursing school in FL the same time as you did, and I just became an RN
Hello All-
I was an OCC student and applied to their nursing school earlier this year. Didn't get in because there were others ahead of me who finished thier pre-reqs before me. But there have been changes to the admissions policy and application deadline.
The deadline to apply for the following fall is in December. If you want to be accepted for fall 2008 you would have to apply by December 15, 2007. So you have until the end of this week to apply and have all requirements completed. If not, you will have to wait until the end of next year to apply for 2009. OCC will also go to a GPA system like WCCCD. Here is their FAQ website for more info.

I would also highly recommend that you speak with a counselor. To apply you will need to meet with certain counselors to go over the checklist. When I applied, couselors were located at the Southfield and Highland Lakes campus only.
Anyone have a favorite ENG 1510 instructor? If so, which campus?:paw:
Hi Carol : )
I had James Hallerman (spelling?) I really liked him a lot. Great instructor....but I had him for Eng1520. I think he is very organized, well prepared and his experience as a full time faculty member shows. He is at Highland lakes. I would take him again if I needed more Eng requirements.

Just as a clarification for those interested...OCC is selecting the Nursing Students for the RN 2008 program by GPA. ( You would of had to apply by Dec 15, 2007 )This is the first RN class that they have gone to this type of standard for selection. Prior years it was more or less by a combination of other factors with the "wait list" type system being the principle factor. Not anymore.....those days are gone. :bowingpur
The link as posted above by other member will get you to the OCC page with better details.
Well This board has been quite.: ) Is everyone out there holding their breaths for the acceptance/denial letters to arrive ? We should know by March 15. What a way to try and become a Nurse. I think after this we will have a lot of nurses running around with anxiety problems.....We will need nurse nurses.
Wow, I graduated from the OCC nursing program in 1988~~~I can't believe the same old stuff is going on twenty years later, There was a two year wait to get in. I had a 3.8GPA, and still had to wait an extra year. Don't worry, it will go fast, and it seems like such a long time ago, I can't hardly remember a long wait~~~Good Luck!
