Hi, nurses! Id like to ask for ur insights regarding work and conditions in uk and new zealand. I hope this would help me decide where to work as i like both countries equally.

Thank you!

Are you looking to move permanently or just travel and work on a visa? What is your background in nursing? Sorry just need some more context to help advise.

Hi, jenylee321! Well, right now, my plan is to have a stable job abroad with high pay quickly as i am in a hurry to explore. Moving there permanently is part of the plan if i like it there (which is a high probability?), thereby the probability of getting a citizenship is part of the long term plan. As for my background, i have a 5 years experience in the intensive care unit in a private hospital in the Philippines. I also have my ielts with a a bandscore of 7 or above in all modules, which is needed in both countries.

Part of my criteria in mind is quality of life, work environment and possibility of career growth.

Thanks for ur opinion!

UK is great but expensive. Life and work balance is great as you have loads of annual leave and sick pay. Proximity to other European countries is a plus- cheap european tour at your doorstep. I cant speak about NZ though. I lived and worked in UK for 15 years before moving to Texas for greener pastureí ½í¸

Maemir, i have actually decided on going to UK. I have passed the CBT and im now waiting for the review of my documents. The reason i chose UK instead of NZ is because they cover almost all of my expenses, from exam fees to 1month free accommodation. That's better compared to NZ wherein i would shell out cash on everything, which would mean that what i earn on my 1st year might just break even my expenses on processing.

Moreover, i have just received my eligibility to take the NCLEX for new york. I've processed this before having the UK opportunity and ive already spent about 500usd so i opted to take the exam anyway. If this happens, i would have a back up plan just in case life in the UK isn't for me.

Is working in the US better than working in the UK? When i read comments on other forums, i think that if i would eventually become a resident or immigrant in the US, the downside is they don't have common healthcare unlike when i become a resident for UK.
