Hi everyone!
I wanted to start a new thread for all the NYU traditional BSN students applying for Spring 2011....anyone out there? It seems that all the people on this site are applying to the accelerated program and I haven't been able to talk to anyone on the traditional path!
Well, if there is anyone out there, I wanted to know how does your application look like? Grades? Credential? Are you a transfer? Internal transfer?
The deadline is October 1st and I'm starting to get nervous because I've heard that least semester they received 5300 (!!!!) applications for about 150-200 spots available!! Aaaaarghhhh! I'm also trying to decide which others school I want to apply to, but nothing comes to mind and I'm so set at NYU since I'm already a student there!
Please help if you have any thoughts or suggestions!
Thank you,
Kika

Hey there, I know you were interested in hearing from traditional applicants, but I figured I'd introduce myself anyway. I'm applying for the accelerated program for spring 2011. I'm currently finishing up my bachelor's in nutrition at the University of Florida.
Have you heard anything about it being less competitive to get into a spring cohort? The number of applications you mentioned is incredible! It makes me nervous :-/
Best of luck,
Rachel
Hi gatorrach!
Nice to meet you too!! Yes, NYU is a wonderful school and I really love it there. I'm currently taking some classes matching the first and second year of nursing (core curriculum) writing reqs, foreign language, socio, intro to psych etc and I will be try to do an internal transfer for the fall semester. I'm not sure if spring is a bit easier then fall...all i know is that it's a pretty competitive program and also very good. I went to the open house in February and I was very impressed by the program and the faculty in general.
Please keep me posted if you hear anything! I'm going on vacation abroad for the whole month of August and I will be sending in my application in September.
Good luck!

Hey Everyone!
I'm also applying to NYU for Spring 2011. I'll be done with about 95% of my pre-requisites this Fall 2010. I would not say that over 5000 apply to NYU. I think it is about 500 for the nursing program, but definitely for the transfer student in general to NYU, it is about 5000 +. We have a chance! =)
I'm not really sure how they just us based on GPA? Minimum is 3.0. I don't know the average GPA for NYU for the nursing program. I'm pretty sure it is not something to worry about as long as you work hard.
I'm done with the application part. I just have to ask two letters of recommendations from my professors. I am already in the nursing program at my current school. I just wanted to attend a good school, because I might proceed to law or medicine later on in the future. It depends. I love nursing so much.
There are also some essays and personal statement we have to write. I will tell you based on their pre-requisites. I do not feel that it is hard or confusing since they have simple to follow classes to take unlike mine. I have to take a lot of Bible classes.
I HIGHLY suggest turning it everything by Sept. 15. Don't ask why. I love the date. =) Plus the earlier the better since it is in a rolling basis.
University of Florida has a good nursing program, so I've heard.
Nice meeting all of you. Keep us up-to-date on how everything goes with applications!
We are the Class of Fall 2012! We can do this! =)
Ciao!
