Hi all
Who will be applying here for NYU Spring 2016 semester. I heard the online application should be live 2nd week of August.
Hi again everyone,
I was wondering if anyone was interested in rooming together? I'll be moving from California and was thinking it would be nice to live with someone else who is also in the program since we'll both be on the same page. If you are interested, PM me and hopefully we can figure something out!
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Smashnyc I have some questions because I am torn between this program and another... How did u like the program?! Where did you live? What was your schedule like (how many classes per day, what days, when were clinicals)? Did hospitals change for clinicals? Did you know anyone who communted from Long Island ? Really any info about the program that you could give would be awesome, I haven't talked to anyone who is in or has done the other program I am choosing between so anything really helps! Thanks :)
"did you do the accelerated program? and how was ittt?!!!?"
Yes. I did the accelerated program. It was hard but doable. Only a couple of people out of 200 or so failed a class and were held back (so to speak) and had to repeat. Pathophysiology was the tough one. Some parts of the program are ridiculous. For example the psych class is 6 weeks long and half the class does it as the first half of the 12 week semester and the other group does it 2nd half. Just weirdness like that.

I liked it some days, hated it others I lived/live in Brooklyn and it was easy to get to campus at washington square but in my last semester the nursing building opened on 1st avenue and it was a little harder.
Schedule was 4 classes and their associated clinical or lab. The clinical and simulation were alternate week so it's a little hard to say. Let's say Monday 8am would be Patho lecture like 11, then Adult and Elder I lecture (basically nursing 101) from 12-3 then nothing, then Tuesday might be your clinical which could bbe in the Bronx (super far from me) or the upper east side (kind of far) and would be 7:30-3 and usually the teacher expects you to be early for that. The Wednesday could be 8 am Health Assessment lecture and Thursday 8am could be your Health Assessment "clinical" which is small group practical skills in a classroom. It's very overwhelming at first but you get into the swing of things. The alternate week you would have simulation in a classroom instead of clinical in a hospital. The simulation day is shorter say 8-12.
Hospitals for clinicals change. You can be in Manhattan Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx. Mostly Manhattan, a couple Bronx and Brooklyn, and if I remember correctly only Pediatrics was in Queens.
People commuted from all over. I know two or three girls who came in from LI and they usually took the train in to classes but drove to the clinicals and it was a big hassle but they did it.
CI'm going to try to dredge up my old schedules and see if I can post them for you guys.
Hey everyone. I am a 2015 grad who entered in Jan. 2014. Ask me anything.
smashnyc - thanks for putting yourself out there! I just attended the NYU information session this evening. Its a beautiful facility but I didn't get to do the tour. I'm torn between Pace University and NYU to start in the Spring. As an NYU graduate did you feel like you had a particular advantage when it came to employment post-NCLEX? What field of study did you choose? The main issue for me is finances.. My goal is nursing practice so that means advanced studies and the ABSN is already going to cost me dearly so I am weighing out the pros and cons. I really appreciate your input or anyone else who may be in a similar situation.

Some of my friends went to Pace University. From what I heard, some of the professors that are there are horrible. Not very student friendly, not helpful and out-to-get you. Another group of friends are currently attending NYU and a few already graduated. I have yet to hear anything bad about NYU. The education is expensive but remember, you are paying for the best nursing education.

So I applied for Fall 2015 admissions last spring. I had to complete the 2 prereqs at NYU this fall and they accepted me into the program for Spring 2016. I'm assuming if you were accepted and you completed the 2 prereqs this upcoming spring, you will start next fall.
