Hello! I was just wondering if anyone can provide some insight on how long it took you to land a job at NYU langone (either Manhattan or Brooklyn location), from start to finish. Thank you!

Yes. You should be fine. Just let them know in advance. I know two people who went on vacation during orientation because they had it planned prior to getting hired!

Hi! I'm a nursing student expecting to graduate in May. I am wondering about the process of getting letters of recommendation for NYU. Should I start obtaining them now? And how many does NYU request? Do they request for example 2 from clinical instructors, 2 from lecture professors, and 1 from a previous job or can they be from anyone? I would be extremely grateful to know this!! I am just not sure if I should start getting the letters right now because I do know that some hospitals send links to the references so they can fill out a survey about you. I wouldn't want my references to have to fill something out twice and am not sure if this would be a problem

They just ask your references to complete a survey.

Can anyone who works for NYU (especially peds critical care) share how they like working there? And if you were a new grad, how you felt about the orientation process?
Would also love to know about the benefits/tuition reimbursement if anyone has that info as well!

Applied for 2022 NYU New Grad Residency (Manhattan) on a Thursday, was contacted by one of their talent acquisition specialists the following day, was interviewed the following Friday, and offered a job four days later.
The entire process from application submission to job offer was 12 days. No recruiter or internal connection used, just applied on NYU career site.

Hey! Congrats on your offer! If you don't mind me asking, did you apply/interview before or after you took the NCLEX?

Thanks! I applied after I took it. I actually waited until my license # was verified on the nysed site before I applied to any jobs at all. You can def start earlier, I just found that the first questions they asked were whether you took the NCLEX and had your license yet. Seems like it gives you a leg up over other applicants bc it makes the process that much quicker (as it is, it takes at least a month to get through the onboarding process), but that’s just my hunch.

Thank you so much! One more question, how long did it take for NYSED to verify your license from taking the NCLEX? Classmates have been calling and were told it can take up to 3 months at this point which is just insane to me.

for me it took 2 weeks, I’ve been hearing from others it has taken 2-3 weeks

Congratulations! I hope it's all going well :). I was curious if you were open to sharing what your background is/was? Did you have CNA/hospital experience? What unit did you want to work on? Also, how is the residency program currently going? Thank you so much for your time, I appreciate it!
