NYU hiring process

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello I recently applied for a position at NYU, they sent me an email recently saying to complete an online questionnaire or assessment tool. Is that a good sign? Do I have a good chance of hearing back?

I really hope we don't get rejected after all this waiting. I'm trying to stay positive. Maybe it's a good thing that they are taking so long, maybe they want to hire majority of us. It would be nice to hear back from them now, my patience is running out.

I totally agree with everything you guys said. My patience is running thin but NYU is my top choice. I email my recruiter once a week telling her that I'm still interested and looking forward to hearing an update... I hope these emails are a good sign and that we all receive good news soon. I hate waiting. This is far worse than waiting for my NCLEX results, and I thought nothing could top that feeling... Lol. I just can't seem to understand any of this. Ugh

Also when is the next start date? I thought my recruiter had told me December 11th but now I'm seeing people saying that it's January?

Of course! You can DM me if you need anything!

She said they want to do a big event Dec because of the hiring months Jan-Apirl and the fact that they want us to be okay or at least almost done with orientation by June (unless you're starting in Apirl and in an ICU/acute setting that needs 6m+). I told me my name was on the list for the interview event and to expect an email in about a month from now.. so I find that strange that you guys have to wait until Jan. She told me I don't need another interview besides coming to the event.

I've been in contact with two different HR people. After my in-person interview, they told me that I could come in for their next interview event that would most likely be scheduled for the end of November. So I have been desparately waiting for end of November! However, now they're saying most likely the event won't be held until January ):

I'm confused because HR is telling you possibly an event in December but HR is telling me possibly an event in January! I just wish they would pick a date already! I'm already licensed and graduated so I'm pretty anxious!

Hm, it may be when you were called. But I would assume that all of the New Grads for Fall 2017 would go to the same event or events? So that's strange! She did say they are in the process of talking to everyone and getting everything together. I think this is kind of a mess since they're hiring a lot of people for this new hospital.

Hey Tbrn2017 & Lcrnyc,

Did you get the email today regarding periop?

No, nothing today. Did they give any new info as to when decisions will be made?

No! It said "We wanted to check in with you regarding the Perioperative Services Interview Day.

At this time you are still under consideration. We apologize for the delay. We are working to have updates and decisions as soon as possible. We wanted to thank you again for your patience and interest in NYU Langone Health."

Wow, okay. I have followed up with my recruiter twice already and very recently, I wonder if that's why I haven't received it...Hopefully we'll at least get a better update next week.

Yes I have received it. Hopefully we hear a final decision within a week.

Hey Tbrn2017 & Lcrnyc,

The last email I got was Monday the 15th of November, was something sent out regarding the interview day (oct 14) since then? This waiting is killing me and confusing me :(

I contacted a recruiter via LinkedIn and she told me to apply online. After everything, she asked for my GPA. When I told her my GPA which was 3.3, she emailed me back saying NYU looks for a 3.5. After I read that email, I was so disappointed. I emailed her back stating I am very interested in starting my career at NYU and hope that my GPA does not disqaulify me from the application process. I haven't heard back from her. For those who got an interview, did you guys all have a 3.5 or higher GPA. Should I email her agin?

Congrats to all those who got in. I have a friend who got the offer but rejected it because they told her that she will not starting till April 2018 cuz they hiring for the new hospital.
